Lysol spray

Air travel rules do not allow a can the size of a Lysol in carryon, but in checked luggage it isn't an issue.

I have carried on in my hand luggage a can of Lysol in my carry on on board a ship. Security screening as you board a ship is quite different than security screening for air travel. The cruise line is not concerned about the quantity of liquid you may have in your carryon.

Are you allowed to bring an aerosol can of Lysol spray on board? If so, in the carryon, or in the checked luggage?

Thanks!

Target sells a travel-size disinfectant spray that is advertised to kill flu virus, so I would think it's effective against noro too. It's also waay smaller than a can of Lysol... :p

Walmart also carries this 1 oz can. We used it during our recent cruise and carried it in our 1 quart liquids bag when going thru airport security.

Hah... the Target brand comes in "Crisp Linen" scent also... methinks they are made by the same folks...

Perhaps you can use Lysol wipes instead. I know an aerosol can will be more convenient to use. But with wipes there will be no problem for sure with the luggage at the airport.

We picked up a normal sized can of Lysol at the home port the day before the cruise. We had no problem carrying it in our carry-on. I probably wouldn't have bought it prior to flying in.

We used it primarily to ensure our shower/bathroom floor was clean enough that we wouldn't have to wear flip flops while showering. I guess I was more worried about athlete's foot then the norovirus.

The product's name is Lysol Neutra Air Sanitizing Spray.

The antibacterial ingredient is dimethol benzyl ammonium sacchrinate.

Whew! That's a mouthful.:p

A few other effective products:

Clorox Disenfecting Wipes will do the job. They contain Alkyl dimethyl ethylbenzyl ammonium chloride.

An effective hand sanitizer could be good to have. Walgreen's carries Veripur Hand Sanitizer. Only $5.00 for a 3 oz tube.

Wet ones are also anti bacterial.

I bought Lysol spray as the label on the can specifically states it klls norovirus. The can HAS to say Lysol Disinfectant as there are different types of Lysol spray:)

If you opt for that instead of clorox wipes, make sure you leave it on for the recommended ten

minutes.

Read notes regarding disinfectants. Question: Will recommended clorox products cause any bleaching damage?

I have filled small pump spray bottles (like hair spray bottles) with 91% rubbing alcohol and spray all over bath fixtures, door knobs, TV remote, etc. Never had a problem getting on plane or ship as is small about 3 oz.

Any comment on effectiveness of 91% alcohol?

I have never even considered this as a possible problem. Has anyone ever really gotten athlete's foot from the bathroom floor?

If your worried about the Noro Virus , most sprayies don't help .

The best things

1 - Wash hands often and well with soap under running water

2 - Use the cabin bathroom instead of the public rooms.

Keep in mind Noro can stay on surfaces up to six weeks.

I acquired some kind of foot issue from a gym shower several years ago, and it took a year of treatment to get rid of, so I now either wear flip-flops or do a first day super-clean of the shower floor.

I got the same thing from the thermal suite. And by the time I noticed it spread to my groin area. I got rid of it much quicker though. Like only 2 weeks.
