donna5 Posted April 8, 2012 #26 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Thanks for doing this, did you or anyone who has cruised in a WS noticed noise from walkers/runners on promenade deck above? Viewed the WS suites on the Grand and very impressed! We did not smell any smoke in the hallway from the casino and it was in the atrium. At night you will hear what sounds like cows in high heels. If you don't go to sleep early, prob. won't hear it. In the morning we have been awakend anywhere from 5:15 on from workers cleaning the deck and banging against the railing with tools. Each time several of us in the WS have complained. You would think by now it would be common sense to start the cleaning on the promenade on the opposite side of the ship, but again we had the same problem. This has happened on all 3 of the ships with the WS.

SwissDave Posted April 8, 2012 #28 Share Posted April 8, 2012 We are all settled in the room for 14 days. Love the location and do not smell smoke. The hall doors have been kept shut. Lots of drawers and closet space J we have several drawers and one closet empty!! Amazing since my husband thought I packed everything but the kitchen sink!! We like the drawers in the bathroom cabinet. We wish other suite bathrooms had this feature….everything is nice and neat. We did unplug the DVD player to gain another outlet….thanks for that tip. Swiss Dave – three outlets along the headboard wall to pick from and one on the desk. Many thanks DLSHS_Mom. I am in F307 in June, so take care of it :) Couple more questions if I may, what is the steward like, does he/she only have those suites to look after? and for muster drill can you directly to the lower part of the theatre from there or do you have to go upstairs? Thanks again.

I'll be posting a more comprehensive suite review later...but agree with Donna5...the heels on the promenade at night kept clacking along. The runners in the morning weren't too awful, but that 5:30 AM wakeup by the clanging drove me insane. I was thinking it was something they were doing below deck; while annoyed, it wasn't worth my effort to get dressed and investigate up top! cruisedreamer17 Posted April 8, 2012 #31 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Hello, well maybe we will bring ear plugs as San Juan suite will be our home for one week starting July 1! I look forward to your review. Laurie
Vanilla Posted April 9, 2012 #32 Share Posted April 9, 2012 In August we are on the Golden in F311 - very excited about the trip to Alaska and also about having our first suite. Any information/comments are certainly welcome - there isn't much info out there about them like the other rooms...

hmh60 Posted April 9, 2012 #34 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Currently on the Grand in WS F309. Great cabin in a great location. First time without a balcony and wasn't sure how we would like it. It is great. No smoke smell, no noise from the casino, and the closet and drawer space is outstanding. The only noise I've heard are the moving of deck chairs early in the morning be the crew. I love this room and would book it again. Love the new look of the Grand.
DCT61 Posted April 9, 2012 Author #35 Share Posted April 9, 2012 We called the front desk (twice) and they sent someone up to stop the joggers who were running before the allotted time (There are signs posted) After the first two times, it was fairly quiet. No..there is not a wet bar in the room.
shanecindy21403 Posted April 9, 2012 #36 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Just wondering if the bed is a true king size bed or is it the 2 twins together? If so how bad is the seam in the middle? Also does the room steward keep you fairly well stocked up on toiletries like shampoo, conditioner and bath gel? We are flying this time and trying to watch the weight! pupraiser Posted April 9, 2012 #37 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Somebody posted a layout of the room.....I saved the file. GRAND_PRINCESS_WINDOW_SUITE-1.pdf
DCT61 Posted April 9, 2012 Author #38 Share Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) <sigh> how soon they forget. A king size mattress is 76x80. I measured the mattress as being 69x81, so unless my dimensions are off (and that could be the case...my partner was sleeping in the bed when I measured...LOL) its somewhere between a king and queen. There is NO seam down the middle. There were plenty toiletries (shampoo, soap, lotion, sheet spray, emory boards, loufah pads, mouthwash, sewing kit, shower cap, etc) and they were replenished. shanecindy21403 Posted April 9, 2012 #39 Share Posted April 9, 2012 After looking at your floor plan I doubt your measurements are off! That was so precise and exact! But thank you for reassuring me about the bed, we really hate the seam down the middle. Thank You
jchipgcs Posted April 9, 2012 #40 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Any idea if there's an iPod docking station in the cabin for listening to music?
candide333 Posted April 9, 2012 #41 Share Posted April 9, 2012 In November 2012, we are on the Grand in F301, the smallest WS. Does anyone know if there is a desk and drawers under the window as in the larger WS? I heard there may not be a DVD player.
teachergal29 Posted April 9, 2012 #42 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Thank you so much for this diagram. Very informative. We are in F311 on the Golden in a little over 2 weeks and we are beyond excited!!:D:D
aikensbest Posted April 9, 2012 #43 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Yes there is a desk, and I guarantee you will have more drawer space then you can ever use. And there will be a dvd player also.

Thanks so much for the information. I was disappointed that we were assigned the smallest cabin, but this will be our first suite and first time in Sabatinis for breakfast. Go-Bucks! Posted April 10, 2012 #47 Share Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) Correct...Architectural designer. The idea of being payed to document other rooms is compelling,,,LOL I guessed that too - my dad's an architect and I can tell that style of drawing and lettering anywhere!! Thanks for your time and effort. We stayed in F311 last year and LOVED it!! :D Edited April 10, 2012 by Go-Bucks!
Go-Bucks! Posted April 10, 2012 #48 Share Posted April 10, 2012 the smell from the cigar lounge was very strong out in the hallway by the suites. you might want to skip these cabins. We stayed in a WS and 1) no smoke smell' date=' and 2) [i']no noise from above[/i]. Only noise we heard was from the stabalizers that were used during windy weather or rough seas. But it was not distracting. We loved this room and will get another one in a heartbeat.
Go-Bucks! Posted April 10, 2012 #49 Share Posted April 10, 2012 what is the steward like, does he/she only have those suites to look after? Ours was not good and, no, they have other rooms beside the WS's. Just wondering if the bed is a true king size bed or is it the 2 twins together? The WS rooms are like other rooms on Princess ships - they have 2 smaller-than-twin sized beds that can be pushed together to form a queen sized bed. Any idea if there's an iPod docking station in the cabin for listening to music? No, they don't have that. But there is a DVD player and a bunch of DVD's that they'll loan you. Roses2 Posted April 10, 2012 #50 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Thanks for the great job that will help allay many of the mis-impressions of the "dreaded" Window Suite. We have cruised in Window Suites 3 times and have booked another WS for the TA on the Caribbean Princess in August. Whenever we see a WS at or near Mini prices for a cruise we want to take we grab the WS in lieu of the mini. We find amazing some of the posts here on CC about WS by folks that never have experienced sailing in this category. Certainly the full suites with balconys are better -- but at 3 times the cost. Thanks again for the great job. P&J
