Rare sparks1093 Posted March 21, 2012 #176 Share Posted March 21, 2012 It was made to sound like all smokers just chuck their butts overboard when they were done. thats where my reply came from...I never posted anything saying it was not possible. You don't have to make things up to prove your point commander. What do you think is being made up?
skyfire53 Posted March 21, 2012 #177 Share Posted March 21, 2012 First, I am an ex smoker....I havent smoked for about 6yrs and can remember vividly all the rules that are placed on smokers...I dont really like the smell of smoke now, but its not enough to ruin my wonderful vacation...I find it much more annoying to see parents that think just because they are on vacation, they are on vacation from being parents and let their darling little ones run rampent in the adult only areas...so, you see, if we want to complain about smokers not following the rules, its probably the same ones that dont follow rules any were else on the ship....yes, I would like to see the "room cleaning" fee for cleaning up after inconsiderat guests, but think it needs to go farther and have fees for other things as well...rules are rules no matter how stupid or not stupid we think they might be and should be followed, period
RDC1 Posted March 21, 2012 #178 Share Posted March 21, 2012 I have a great Ideal.. btw im a non smoker.. 1/2 the rooms smoke free on each side of the ship.. If you choose to book a room thats in the smoking side "its your own da*n fault.. Or you could go by decks.. Been on 3 cruises only place smoking has been overwealing was in the casino.. Never noticed it being a problem on my balcony... Just me some people just fuss about something they dont understand.. Inless im trapped in a car with a smoker i have no complaints.. Won't happen because it reduces the flexibility of the inventory. If you do as proposed then you have just made 1/2 of the rooms unacceptable to one group or the other and the odds of demand lining up with the number of rooms in each category is rather slim. Some hotels offer smoking and non-smoking rooms. They have fewer smoking rooms. If all of the smoking rooms are taken then you have to take a non-smoking room and agree not to smoke in it. It isn't an insurmountable undertaking (but prohibiting smoking in all cabins is certainly easier).

But if this fee was levied on other rules that were broken the board woudl be filled with everyone up in arms. It appears it's fine to break some policies and not others. As a matter of fact one person totally supporting this fine, started another thread in the last couple of days on how to smuggle booze on board  Go figure

cutiepiefred Posted March 21, 2012 #183 Share Posted March 21, 2012 Im ok with the designated smoking areas. I just wish they wouldnt allow it on the balcony - OR for once I would have a neighbor that isnt outside smoking on their balcony every 1/2 hour during the night! I agree 100%. we had a balcony for our honeymoon cruise and COULD NOT use it, due to constant smokers. I was glad when the ones on the left got booted off in Belize due to smoking in their room. we even went as far as to ask the ship to move us to a cheap category just to get away from the smoke. We will neer book a balcony again unless its on a non smoking cruise.

Cmdr Cody Posted March 21, 2012 #185 Share Posted March 21, 2012 That and a cigarette being thrown overboard can most definitely go right back into someone's room. Can't you smoke in the cigar bars? Really??? Sparks - The Commander said 'That response along with others from the same poster say it is not possible'....I never said that. You are correct sir, I quoted your sarcastic response to SissasMomE was Really?, To be correct it was Really??? so that makes it more sarcastic. Was your response because you agreed or you were disagreeing? If it was because you agreed with her I am sorry to have missed that subtle nuance. If you were disagreeing then I was correct. You don't have to make things up to prove your point commander. It definitely was not "made" to sound that way - except, perhaps, by the reader. I would hope most would have enough common sense not to throw a lit cigarette overboard. Unfortunately, it does happen.

Choochala Posted March 22, 2012 #199 Share Posted March 22, 2012 its much easier to clean cabins were people don't smoke. I don't smoke my wife does. I can tell you that NCL changed ALL the linen duvet and bed covers at the end of a cruise in any cabin where there was a smoker. they changes as much as humanly possible. It took extra time. every hotel, or any place that allowed smoking will tell you not only that it is significantly easier to clean but it also prevents burns on rugs and on beds and a lot of other places. Now they can assign more rooms to the cleaners and have less problems. BTW the room stewards will warn you before imposing the fine and there are still plenty of places to smoke as long as they allow smoking at least one place inside and you plan your room accordingly...again for my wife not me... Yikes - I'd like to believe that these are changed whether there is smoking or not! That's nasty!!!!!
