pseudoware Posted March 21, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2012 All else being equal, what is "better" or preferable, generally speaking, assuming the choices are limited to these. If the answer is deck-dependent, please specify. If it matters, the choices are likely limited to decks 2, 6, 7 and 9, I think. Thanks!
Wildcatfish Posted March 21, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2012 Some like chocolate, some like vanilla. Same with fore and aft, although the aft balconies are very nice. Rooms toward the front are closer to the spa, Solarium, and theatre, while those aft are closer to the MDRs, Windjammer, FlowRider, Rock Wall, mini golf, and kids clubs. You will able to run up the stairs (2 flights) to the Windjammer and Pool areas without taking the elevator. Kathy:)
Flopthis25 Posted March 21, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2012 Aft is busier. That set of elevators was always busy. My next room will be an aft Balcony
lori450 Posted March 21, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2012 Forward feels a little more motion. But, there are others who would disagree with me.
KMagz Posted March 21, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 21, 2012 My suggestion is choose a cabin close to the stairs & elevator regardless of deck. Sooner or later you gotta go up or down and it can be a long walk if your cabin is not near them. We prefer a mid-deck (like 6 or 7) to feel less motion. On Freedom we once had 9396 & 9401 (last cabins before the "afts") and did not care for the amount of motion and vibration we felt. Not terrible by any means -- just more than we'd felt on any other cruise.

gcvt Posted March 21, 2012 #8 Share Posted March 21, 2012 We liked aft because it was close to everything we used the most. Never had much of a problem with the elevator situation. Then again, we were corner aft on deck 10, so we just walked one flight of stairs to get where we were going most of the week.

AngelKappie Posted March 21, 2012 #10 Share Posted March 21, 2012 http://www.voyager-class.com/pictures/cabins/aftbalconies/aftbalconies.html Even though this is the Voyager class ship website, Freedom is the same just a little bigger. Check out the AFT corner room 7388 or 7688 both GREAT balcony rooms, they are category E1 same price as the side of the ship. We had 7388 LOVED it BIG balcony! Majority of the people will take the elevator up & down 1 floor..
AngelKappie Posted March 21, 2012 #12 Share Posted March 21, 2012 OK on the Freedom I told you the wrong cabin numbers! SORRY, The aft corner ones are 7408 and 7708 These are just like the Voyager class 7388 and 7688
jackretired Posted March 21, 2012 #13 Share Posted March 21, 2012 Cabin Selection, it is up to you to decide. Here are some things to think about: To avoid the motion of the ocean, be in the center of the ship. Top to bottom. Front to back. Side to side in really bad seas. Stabilizers do a good job but sometimes … To avoid noise What is around you What is over you What is under you Look at the deck plans To avoid long walks Where are the elevators To avoid elevators Do you want to be close to MDR, windjammer, pool deck, casino, schooner lounge? To avoid $ Inside To get a view Balcony
