Beach at Freeport

What are some good beach spots in freeport? My family just wants to go to the beach for a few hours. We are trying to avoid the high price of the ship excursion. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I plan to take a cab to Port Lucaya. There's a beach and shopping.

We loved Paradise Cove because it was quiet and beautiful. We went snorkeling there, but we made the arrangements once we got off the ship. I am not sure how it works if you just want to use the beach, but you might want to look into it if you want a quiet spot. Good luck, and if you go, try the conch fritters the ladies make in the little hut by the beach. I liked them better anything I had on the ship. :)

I hope more reply to this We are going there in Oct. and it's a family vacation so too expensive to do the excursions... Cheapest way to get around with large group?:D

Go to the Ports of Call Board for Bahamas. Lot's of useful threads already on there. That's where I find most of my ideas for ports.

my cousin has a time share there and told us to go to Port lucaya. She said take a cab.

We did an AI through Wyndham. It was fun! I went to their website and emailed them. I also got points for the all inclusive day.

What does a cab cost? What did the beach day at the Wyndam cost? We are a family of 8 wanting a beach experience and need something we can afford.

There are van-type buses...$5 pp to get to Lucaya Beach and shopping area. A cab for 2 will run about $25, so the van may be a better bet.

I will look up the info or you could google their website. It was fairly reasonable because we paid for 7 of the 11 in our group. :)
