RickT Posted August 29, 2013 #76 Share Posted August 29, 2013 There are many drinks in Michaels Club that would easily run over $50 a shot. If they allowed you to drink any wine available by the glass I suspect many would be well over $25 a glass. The package is not for me... but for the rare few who have lots of money and like the fine alcohol available... Maybe on my next cruise I'll see if I can buy it for one night on the final night and go to town trying some scotches and cognacs I cannot afford :D
RodPat Posted August 30, 2013 #77 Share Posted August 30, 2013 This package is too pricey for my pocketbook but Michaels Club does sell some very high end cognac. I know that they have a high end Frapin that sells for $450 a glass. My husband was there one evening drinking Cognac a $14 glass, and someone came in and ordered a double Frapin. When he left my husband asked the bartender what that cost and he told him. So I guess if you have money to buy a drink like that a $199. a day package might be right up your alley. Dave85 Posted August 30, 2013 #78 Share Posted August 30, 2013 Wow. Wonder how this one will sell? I can't imagine it will sell well at all. How many people really spend that much on drinks per day???
andreloop Posted August 30, 2013 #79 Share Posted August 30, 2013 Of course it always boils down to how much alcohol is consumed, no matter the price. Celebrity can make a nice profit for a drink package of all the ripple and muscatel you can drink for $3.16 per day, but then that'd only attract street bums who wouldn't dress for formal nights! In MHO, any "package" at whatever the price encourages the vast majority of takers to drink considerably more than usual, and usually ends up bad with hangovers, loss of appetite, (Oh, you didn't feel well and couldn't enjoy Murano last nite?) and other malaise's that are usually explained by I was "seasick".(Hard to be when the ship was in port). I'm no Elmer Gantry, and do a fair share of normal drinking. Just because I'm not driving on a cruiseship is not reason enough to spend my time and money to be buzzed and half senseless for 7 days and nights. Totally missed that this thread was a year and a half old. Love when that happens.
We're The Groupnors Posted August 30, 2013 #81 Share Posted August 30, 2013 We once met a chap on Solstice who told us his bar bill for the week was in excess of $2,000. Not sure if that was just for him, or for his entire cabin, but if it was just for him then the Ultra Premium Beverage Package would actually pay-off!
