BriarRose Posted April 25, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2005 Hey everyone, We are in the process of packing for our 4/30 cruise on the Zuiderdam and a couple of questions have come up. 1. Towels are available to take off the boat at ports of call. How big are these towels? Are they bath towels, pool towels (slightly larger than bath) or are they beach towels (think bath sheet)? I ask because we plan on doing some beach lounging and if the towels available are bath size, I will be packing my beach towel. 2. For the BBQ by the Lido pool, can we wear shorts, or do we need to be "Dining room casual". I do realize that as the evening progresses shorts are shunned in the casino, show lounge, etc. We will have spent the entire day at the Baths and in the sun, don't really foresee wanting to "dress up" for the BBQ, but will if this is the social norm. 3. Do we need cash for HMC? Thanks in advance for all the help. We are toooooo excited. This is the first vacation my husband and I will have taken alone since our honeymoon (12 yrs. ago). So pardon me if I seem a little giddy, or ask a silly question........:D I am sure as the week progresses I will have more questions. Thanks in advance. jhannah Posted April 25, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2005 The towels are what I'd call a pool towel. Shorts are fine for the Lido BBQ. No cash needed for HMC.

djludwig@prodigy.net Posted April 26, 2005 #5 Share Posted April 26, 2005 You might want to consider going on HAL site and renting some Clamshells for your day at HMC. They are $9 ea per day ( 2 people use one ). They are a nice way to stay out of the sun and you will be more comfortable than using a towel. There are also plenty of lounge chairs availalble for free at HMC. I wouldn't go nuts packing towels. HAL's towels were quite good.
FoxyTerrier Posted April 26, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 26, 2005 8 Quarters if you want to rent a locker. The lockers are small and the type they used to have in airports and train stations. Once you put the key in to reopen the locker you will need 8 more quarters if you want to lock it again. Joni
Krazy Kruizers Posted April 26, 2005 #7 Share Posted April 26, 2005 As we are leaving the ship for the tender to HMC we always pick up 2 beach (pool) towels EACH at the gangway. If you order any drinks either at one of the beach bars or via a beach server, you may want to have some ones to tip that person. Shorts are very acceptable at the Lido BBQ. Once you have finished, no one will complain if you are wearing shorts back to your cabin to change for evening at the casino or one of the lounges.
