FLchick2 Posted April 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2012 Hi Everyone, I have a hold on a cruise. There’s a $100 OBC that I’d like to use towards gratuities. I was told if I choose Open Seating I have to pay gratuities in advance and can’t use my OBC towards it. If I book 2nd seating, can I easily change to Open Seating once on board? Please let me know. Thank you in advance.
39august Posted April 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2012 If My Time Dining is not full you can change. It is quite popular so it is likely that you will not be able to do so.
LovesCruising Posted April 7, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2012 Why not just use your OBC towards other on board expenses - or is your bill usually l/t $100 - ours never is:)
Paulxyz2004 Posted April 7, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2012 If it´s refundable OBC you will be credited the unused amount. If it´s non-refundable credit go to the casino and draw the money from them. If you want to be sure to get MTD it should be worth the $3 you pay for it;)
FLchick2 Posted April 7, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted April 7, 2012 LovesCrusing – Believe it or not our expenses are usually less then $100! Paul – what is MTD? Credited the unused amount? What does that mean? Would they give me cash if it’s a refundable OBC? Thanks!

Chances are that you will be able to switch onboard. Usually, the maitre-d will be able to accomodate you, but it's not a given. Sometimes, it's just not possible, so you are taking a risk. If it were me, I would book traditional and once onboard try to change, and if I can't change, well then I'd be satisfied with the traditional too. So, I guess only you can decide how satisfied you would be if the maitre-d cannot accomoate you to determine if it is worth the risk to you. And, even if you have traditional, once onboard, you can still arrange to have the tips added to your onboard acct and use your OBC towards that.
