CZodda Posted April 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Good Afternoon Everyone! Hope all had an excellent holiday weekend! I was just reading another post and I saw someone mentioning something about the new smoking policy. It's been about 3 years since my last cruise but I am planning one for this September. I don't smoke but my sister-in-law does. What is this new smoking policy? Can you not smoke in the cabins anymore? Any CC members who smoke - can you fill me in? Thanks and have a great day! Gypsywych Posted April 9, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2012 How do you know which ships have a smoking section on the Lido and which do not? All of them except the Carnival Destiny has a smoking section on the Lido. Destiny's smoking section is one deck up because of the 2.0 changes made with Guy's Burger Bar. All ships have designated areas on open decks for smoking. They will be listed in the Fun Times.

No... this should read the LIBERTY. ;) It has the 2.0 & Guys, and no smoking on Lido any longer because of the complainers apparently. Edited... It was supposed to be a test, moving the smoking area off the Lido & up to a deserted, windy area above on Deck 10. I guess the test results showed that was a good move?? travlngrl1996 Posted April 9, 2012 #10 Share Posted April 9, 2012 How do you know which ships have a smoking section on the Lido and which do not? When we were on the DESTINY a few weeks ago, as you walked out on the Lido deck on the right hand side was the smoking section. My mom and cousin frequented that side when we were out there. As an on again off again smoker, is it really so terrible to go up a deck and smoke so people can eat without the smoke? I dont see the issue. Its not like you can light up and smoke in the lunchroom at work. Why should it be such a issue on a cruise ship ? Feel free to flame me... lyn.net Posted April 9, 2012 #15 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Okay. Now I'm confused. As the 2.0 upgrades are completed, that eliminates smoking on the Lido? Where will the "open outside smoking area" be? What about the outside areas on decks 3 and 4 (Conquest Class)?
maxamuus Posted April 9, 2012 #16 Share Posted April 9, 2012 Like i said i am a on again off again smoker, dont blow smoke up my a$$. If you think a wiff of BBQ smoke is worse then smoking you are delusional.
notme1955 Posted April 9, 2012 #17 Share Posted April 9, 2012 It's an issue because the area they moved the smokers to was extremely windy along with other issues, which made it (in the opinion of most smokers who were there) more a fire hazard than was wise. I don't think anyone would have minded so much if the cruise line itself had thought it through and/or at the very least made notification before making the change. I don't know if they've changed anything since then, but I guess we'll find out at the end of the month. We're not smokers--except for the occasional cigar--so it doesn't really affect us one way or the other. I can understand both sides of this issue, though. Well as a smoker and a LOVER of BBQ, i still say put the smokers up a deck so we can all eat in peace and not have to enjoy a Pal-mal while we eat.
