murder mystery on Pearl

We're doing the June 3rd Pearl to Alaska. Has anyone done the murder mystery dinner (lunch on Pearl)? Is it worth doing? thanks

DH and I did the mystery dinner and with the right mix of people, I think it would be fun. Our group consisted of great participants and a couple who really didn't have a clue. After 10 minutes, the husband blurted out that he was the one "who dun it.":eek: It was a nice dinner, but no mystery and while it funny, it became just another dinner. Hopefully you will get a wonderful group!:D

DH and I did the Murder Mystery Dinner on the Pearl 2 years ago when sailing Sawyer Glacier and we had a great time, but everyone at our table participated and took it very seriously and played it to the hilt.

 

Granted, it is not for everyone, but we enjoyed it and would do it again if we sail on the Pearl.

We accidentally did it on the Jewel last May. During breakfast at Cagney's I asked Adrian the concierge about it. He reserved it for us but I forgot to tell my DW. The day of the Murder Mystery we had early lunch at Cagney's and then she went to the casino and I was on the balcony when they called about the lunch and since there's a charge we went. We actually had a great time at it, but we showed up late and everyone knew it since the entertainment was delayed due to us.

Do they have this on all the ships? I'm going on the Dawn soon, and I'd love to participate in this!

We had an interactive lunch "Presumed Murdered" with the Second City group at Le Bistro on the Gem last week. It was alot of fun and the Salmon was excellent.

It was $20/pp. It was offered to us by the Concierge in Cagney's when we boarded, but was also in the Freestyle Daily. It was a full house. I would think you could call the guest services desk and make your reservations once on board. I am really not sure about how quickly it fills up, but I know there were first time cruisers at our table. Just an FYI, unlike regular dining, you are placed at a shared table at the murder mystery lunch.

I participated in the murder mystery dinner on the Dawn in November of 2006, when there was no charge. I wound up at a great table, and we had a lot of fun. But people who were at not-so-good tables didn't have much fun.

 

My friend and I participated in the murder mystery dinner on the Crown in May of 2008, when there was no charge. My friend had a great time, but it wasn't so great for me, because it was the same exact thing that was on the Dawn. I remembered all the characters, who dunit, and the various twists and turns.

 

When we were on the Pearl in July of 2010, there was a charge to participate, and no way was I going to pay to sit there and go through the same old story.

 

I'm glad I was able to do it for free in 2006 and 2008, because I definitely don't think it's worth the money. But a lot of others disagree with me. To each his own.
