Help have a few questions!

Ok so I have read all 46 pages of the new cruiser section.

I am planning a cruise on Adventure of the Sea with Royal Caribbean.

If every drink comes with a 15% gratuity(or is it tax?) do we still tip the bartender?

Is there a way to buy beer ahead of time at a cheaper price and have it sent to your room (or any alcohol?) and if so can you drink it outside of your room at dinner or by pool?

Can you add money to your onboard account prior to sailing?

Do the cabins (balcony) have alarm clocks in the rooms?

Can you take water/food from ship into the ports?

Can you bring either back from ports to ship for immediate consumption?

Can purser on ship cash travelors cheques or give you a cash advance on your credit card?

Do they sell Canadian beer on board?

THanks,

Can you add money to your onboard account prior to sailing? Yes, not sure how

Do the cabins (balcony) have alarm clocks in the rooms? No alarm clocks but you can get a wake up call like a hotel

Can you take water/food from ship into the ports? Water - yes. Pre packaged foods - yes. sandwiches, fruit, bread, etc. not allowed off the ship do to local regulations

Can you bring either back from ports to ship for immediate consumption? No, they will hold all alcohol for you and return it the last night.

Can purser on ship cash travelors cheques or give you a cash advance on your credit card? Trav checks - yes. Cash advance - yes with a 3% fee

Do they sell Canadian beer on board? .??

THanks,

Good luck!

If every drink comes with a 15% gratuity(or is it tax?) do we still tip the bartender? You can add more if you want to - but it's not necessary.

Is there a way to buy beer ahead of time at a cheaper price and have it sent to your room (or any alcohol?) and if so can you drink it outside of your room at dinner or by pool? I think they may have bucket of beers specials sometimes.

Can you add money to your onboard account prior to sailing? Yes. Not sure if you can do it on-line or not - you may have to call.

Do the cabins (balcony) have alarm clocks in the rooms? Nope - you'll have to bring your own (battery powered).

Can you take water/food from ship into the ports? Food - no, unless it's pre-packaged. Almost all ports have strict agricultural laws to prevent insects, etc. from being introduced into their country (including the U.S.). Fines can be huge if you're caught. Water (in a sealed bottle) - maybe. We just got back from Australia and New Zealand and you couldn't even take water in New Zealand.

Can you bring either back from ports to ship for immediate consumption? Not sure on that one.

Can purser on ship cash travelors cheques or give you a cash advance on your credit card? I think they may cash travelers checks - you may be better off bringing your own cash.

Do they sell Canadian beer on board? Don't know.

THanks,

WOW.. you are Canadian aren't you?? Why don't you just ask someone form Toronto.. they know everything!! ;)

I too am looking for some of the same answers... one thing I do know is don't take food off the ship to ports, water ok.

And don't even think about getting Canadian beer!! Molsons and Labatts do not exist outside of the Continental Canada !! :D :D

Traveler checks may be cashed at Guest Relations for no charge. Cash advances can be made against your credit card (at Guest Relations or the Casino) but I believe there is a fee for this (not sure if it is 3% of 5%) - hopefully someone will know for sure.

I am sure you are joking

It is available elsewhere but according to those in the know it does not taste the same as in Canada.;)

The answers to your questions seem to be spot on.

I would not recommend you bring food back onboard unless it is prepackaged. There is plenty to eat onboard all of the time. The pool grill will be open most of the day. There is dining and snack service in the Lido, there will be 24 hour room service etc. There is no need to bring consumable food back to the ship.

There will be bar service in the dining rooms. Bringing your own beverage is not the best idea. The exception is bringing a bottle of wine which will be opened by your steward or sommelier and there will be a corkage fee.

I haven't been on the AOS in quite a while but the phone had a wake up function. Double check this but I know in the past this was offered.

In most ports taking water off is not an issue. If you take your own bottle the water on the ship is absolutely fine. You can usually buy water as you disembark the ship too, but why pay when you don't have to.

If you have any other questions - please ask. We'll be glad to help.
