Sir~Cruisealot Posted April 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2012 Fly into Calgary, rent a car and take your own tour from Lake Louise to Jasper and across to Vancouver.. There are few more spectacular trips on Earth! We have driven this route twice while cruising out of Vancouver.

Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted April 24, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2012 You can break the drive from Jasper to Vancouver with a stop in Kamloops. Kamloops Trout is a treat.

There are several bus tours from Calgary, Alberta it is about a 2 hour drive from Calgary. You could then fly from Calgary to Vancouver or Seattle. It would take over a day to drive to Lake Louise from Vancouver. There is an overnight train from Jasper to Vancouver but it doesn’t operate everyday. pyrogy Posted April 24, 2012 #6 Share Posted April 24, 2012 Lake Louise is in Alberta. It would take approximately 10-12 hours to drive from Lake Louise to Vancouver, not including any time for stops. Probably slower on a bus.
Barrick Posted April 24, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 24, 2012 If you're thinking of taking a day trip to Lake Louise from Vancouver, that's not going to happen. It s about a 10 to 11 hour drive one way, with maybe a 30 minute stop for lunch. That's if you drive a little on the fast side, and there are no road closures from construction, rock slides, or accidents. :)Hello! I think Celebrity uses them for their cruisetours.
kasijab Posted April 24, 2012 #9 Share Posted April 24, 2012 If you have the time you should really consider doing the Rocky Mountaineer train from Jasper to Vancouver staying overnight In Kamloops. We did this tour last year and had a lovely night in Lake Louise before going to the train ...and the scenery is spectacular to say the least. We were on a cruisetour from the UK ..flew into Calgary and had a week land/train tour before boarding Century in Vancouver to Alaska and back. Great Holiday. brandybit Posted May 28, 2012 #10 Share Posted May 28, 2012 just returned from a 10 day vacation in Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper. (no cruise this time, unfortunately!) We flew into Calgary and rented a car. Is best to be on your own and just explore rather than be on a big bus with a set schedule! The Icefields Parkway between Lake Louise and Columbia Icefields (and Jasper) was spectacular! Bow Valley Parkway between Banff and Lake Louise was best for wildlife viewing. Expect HUGE crowds, though, in July and August. We went in May and there were hardly any people, but Lake Louise was still frozen over. Beautiful lakes of Minnewanka and Two Jacks in Banff were thawed and beautifully turquoise. Maybe take the Canadian Rail from Banff to Vancouver when you are done with your time in Lake Louise. Just be aware if you rent a car in Canada you can not return it in the United States (Seattle).
