1 HappyCruiser Posted April 29, 2012 #26 Share Posted April 29, 2012 Okay, so is it like the one at the airport? Will a small rolling suitcase fit? Thanks, Diane At embarkation, they use the port scanners, not the onboard (smaller) carry-on scanners. In every port of embarkation I've been to in both the US and elsewhere, these would have accommodated any size suitcase I would have wanted to bring. Effectively, if you are capable of hauling it and willing to haul it, you'll be permitted to haul it. Being able to get to the cabin immediately after boarding is one of the nice things about Princess. No aimless milling about with your hand luggage... I just measured the scanners used in Fort Lauderdale last week & they're 23" wide which is probably big enough for the largest suitcase.

PurrSusan Posted April 29, 2012 #28 Share Posted April 29, 2012 Our luggage will arrive at the ship 5-6 hours ahead of us (we're taking the train to Whittier--our luggage goes to the ship & we go on an excursion). Anyway, will the room steward put our luggage in our cabin or will it sit out in the hall all afternoon?!! This is the first time our luggage will beat us to our cabin so I was wondering what to expect.......
Pam in CA Posted April 29, 2012 #29 Share Posted April 29, 2012 Holland America is now also offering rooms available at checkin. They've been doing that for a while. At least a year or two. :) Plus, HAL allows you to stay in your cabin until disembarkation.
