Jesterscourt Posted April 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2012 We would like to go on a Christmas Markets Cruise but want to end up in Budapest. While there is a Danube River trip from Passau to Budapest, what if we were to take the Nurnberg to Vienna trip which many have recommended? Is it a major undertaking disembarking in Vienna and traveling with luggage to Budapest?
Talisker92 Posted April 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2012 The best way to get to Budapest would be by train. I suggest you go to the Eurail website and check the schedules and costs. All things considered, I would opt for the cruise that ends up in Budapest.

Is it a major undertaking disembarking in Vienna and traveling with luggage to Budapest? You do realize the stretch before Passau is on the canal, not the river Danube? Passau to Budapest is actually the more interesting stretch of the Danube. The only reason to end in Vienna is to spend extra days there. Otherwise, do the cruise that goes all the way to Budapest and forget about Nuremberg, which I found to be nothing special (ok, unless you care for the **** related history stuff).
