Barbados hotel

Wondering if anybody can recommend a hotel in Barbados.

Hi JoAnne, Pre cruise we stayed in an ocean front room at the Hilton Barbados and post cruise a king room on a higher room floor at the Courtyard by Marriott Bridgetown.

Both offered comfortable accomodations but we felt the Hilton had the edge in that it is located on the water and has its own restaurants.

The problem that you will encounter in high season is that many properties in Barbados have one week minimum stay requirements.

If you like smaller properties with character, more in line with SeaDream, I highly recommend you look at Little Good Harbour, or Little Arches. The more remote Hotel Atlantis, in Bathsheba, has been redone by the owners of LGH and is fantastic. It also has a beautiful restaurant. No long beaches on this coast but perfect for a quiet relaxed stay.

Last year we also did a one nighter at the Colony Club. A medium sized hotel, very traditional old-style British, beautiful grounds, perfect for a night or two.

We did Barbados RT last Thanksgiving Week. We stayed at the Fairmont which is up from the Sandy Lane the day/night prior to departure. We really liked it. Very charming, nice beachside setting, excellent service. It is a bit of ride though to/from the airport and where the ship departs from which as I recall is closer to the south/southeast side of Barbados (the Sandy Lane and Fairmont are up the west coast closer to the northwest). We also got a "day room" at the Hilton since we had a long "layover" before a late afternoon departure after the cruise. The Hilton wasn't as charming but it was nice enough, good looking pool, more rooms so less likely to want a longer minimum, and the convenience is not to be discounted. The Hilton will put you much closer to the airport and to the ship terminal, saving you time and money. Hope that helps. Enjoy!
