New Casino in Nassau

I understand there is a new casino somewhere in Nassau.

Does anyone have any information on this?

Thanks

From what I understand it will replace the Crystal Palace at some point in the future. Just got an email from CP about our cruise in May... all table games start after 6pm, only slots/virtual games during the day. Bummer!

Scubagirl had posted a link to the new resort/casino, Bahamar I think.

Thanks for the info. Will the CP go away at some point during the transition?

I believe so, but there are no details.

The new Casino is smack in the middle of the construction of 4 new hotels. I don't think it will be opening independently.

Wow, well with the sale of Atlantis I wonder if they see an opening to bring Cable Beach back to the "go to" place? I remember 20 plus years ago when the CP was the IN place to go. A real shame that they do not open tables til after 6 now... and we will be there on a Friday.

The two cable beach hotels and casino seem to be in a winding down period. Staff is cut, rooms are not on a maintenance rotation, services are cut. I'm sure this is all in preparation for demolition of the 2 wyndham towers and construction of the new beach area.

Once Bahamar is open.. we're hoping to have a more diverse and sophiticated destination. Timeless and designed to enhance the feel of the culture of the country.

The theme park persona is played out.

Judging by the website you posted above the new resorts look amazing! Much classier looking than Atlantis. Are the locals in favor of the new resort? Did Atlantis put up a fight? From reading some other posts on here it seems they had a firm grip on the local area.

What? Someone woke up to that? Good thing! You give good service with a simple but elegant setting, pleasant employees, well maintained casino with both "low" roller and "high" roller areas and recessions will hurt but not near as much. Atlantis is glitzy to the point of absurd, have done things to completely turn people off. I wonder who thought that making huge bucks off of ships tourist would not eventually hurt the bottom line. If someone was on a cruise, could "view" Atlantis (like on a tour) without having to shell out major bucks they might come back for a land vacation. Oh, well I hope Bahamar lives up to it's website and brings back the elegant yet beachy resort that Cable Beach so richly deserves.

From what I have seen, the design is more in keeping with the caribbean flare.. not disneyworld.

We are all unsure of how this will play out and whether the economy will support the new complex.

As for Alantis.. yes, they cried fowl and threatened to close their doors.

Kerzner is not a happy camper, and now he has been forced to sell to pay off his billions in loans.

Only time will tell.. my fingers are crossed. Hope this is a good thing for all concerned.

Will the Sheraton Cable Beach become a part of Baha Mar or will it be changed?

Sheraton and Wyndham are both supposed to be part of the new Baha Mar.

It should run from Sheraton beach, past the wyndham and the old Nassau Beach hotel down to Breezes.

The resort map doesn't show it ... but I have seen it on other sets of plans.

Thank you for the info.

We sail on the Carnival Fantasy to Nassau in a few days and I refuse to go back to Atlantis Casino. And, one of Wifey's cousins had been working construction on it, and we thought they were completed and open.

There are about 2000 chinese workers living in a construction "village" on the premises working to pull this together over the next 2 years. The village has living quarters, clinic, relaxation areas etc. all confined within the construction area..

The casino foundation is poured and we've seen about 5 floors go up so far.

Nassau Beach Hotel was demolished this week. 2 Wyndham towers are due to come down in the coming weeks. Lots to accomplish before the new casino is open.

I just got an offer for day passes or a room for the Wyndham on 5/11, are we going to enjoy the beach/pool area or is it even worth it with the construction?

Don't know. I'm told that 2 towers are coming down soon, and the beach is being reclaimed and extended down to Breezes. I get the impression that all those Rocks in front of the wyndham will be cleared to make a walkable beach. Don't know the schedule.

Right now.. if I were to book a room at the wyndham, I'd consider using the sheraton for beach and pool.

Thanks so much, may just forgo the offer and wander down to Junkanoo, grab a cold one and check it out. Thanks again for the most up to date info!

It does look much classier than Atlantis! I've never been that interested in going to Atlantis but my wife and our friends who are traveling with us in August want to go. My wife is very much interested in Baha Mar as am I.

You DO know that you have to pay to do or see anything at Atlantis these days. If you're not interested.. it's an expensive day to purchase a pass just to tag along.

You can no longer just take a cab and wander around.

Only the casino and marina Village (located adjacent to the property, not on the ground) are open to the public.

I know...we're doing the Aquaventure pass.

I'll have a good time regardless of what I do but I'm not exactly looking forward to it. My wife's done plenty of excursions I've wanted to do and some battles just aren't worth fighting. ;)
