although im sure these questions have been asked before i just cant quite find a thread just wondering how long it takes to walk through the shops of the marketplace just browsing leisurely (mostly looking for souvenirs & a flowy dress) so we can plan accordingly for our port day here (we dont plan to eat a meal at the marketplace so we wont be going in any restaurants,we're going to try some conch fritters at billy joes, however i would like to try a "coconut tart" & a "guava pastry" so if someone could tell me where in the marketplace to find these that would be super helpful!! and also.. is the straw market in the market place or separate? thanks in advance

Last time I was there (maybe on my 5/2008 Glory cruise), DD & I took the taxi van to the marketplace and just wandered around. I really don't remember how much time we spent, but it wasn't really very long. Bought a couple of interesting bracelets for DD.

Ended up sitting at an outdoor bar by a harbor and had a beer. I'm not much of a shopper. I do recall that it was very, very hot that day, and we got a really tasty freshly-made fruit smoothy, too.

In November, I'm doing a B2B. It's not that I particularly WANT to go to Nassau and Freeport twice in 10 days, but I get Half Moon Cay for my 6th time on leg one when I'm solo, so it's worth it! :D

I'll probably just do the above on my solo stop. Maybe pay a visit to the casino, too!

Hi -You can google Our Lucaya Marketplace for a list of shops.

We were there a few years ago and spent an hour shopping- easily could have spent two- but we wanted to spend time at the beach and hotel area-now the Grand Lucayan.
