How do you pass the time?

Recommended Posts

Well this is how I pass the time until my next cruise.

sorry just had to share the pic :D

I go to sleep but not before setting my alarm to go off three days before the cruise. Then I wake up, pack, print off my cruise documents and then just sit and look at the webcams for the three days until it is time for me to leave:D

1. making and updating lists

2. Playing in my "Cruise Closet"

3. Making hotel reservations, and revising them when something better comes along

4. Making sure the cats don't catch me planning yet another trip

5. Checking for price drops, of course!!!!!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE that cartoon!!! So now I don't feel all alone in the world...as I am staring at that same exact screen saver as well...Unfortunately there's too much work on my desk to lay out under the lamp...LOL!!!

Day one off the ship...

Post cruise depression aka PCD sets in...so I

1)Get on CC and start a review...with pics!

2) Book another cruise [if I haven't already]

12-6 months before the cruise...I ...

1) surf CC and read the boards...

2) read CC, especially reveiws with pics!

3) plan our cruise

4) make lists of what to bring;)

5) Talk to people on the roll-call boards...

6) Surf the net to find deals on excursions...

7) blow the dust off my rum runners [might try them next time...note this is often after I've reviewed our bar bill...]

less than 6 months to go...

8) revise my packing lists of what to bring...

9) play in the "cruise closet" [as previous poster said]

10) plan my cruise wardrobe...aka shop for a new outfit or two...;)

11) book hotel and flights...

12) plan pre and post cruise trips or day trips...if flying into port day or two before cruise...

less than 3 months to go...

12)revise the what to bring list again...

13)get talked out of bringing the rum runners again...

14)make sure we have all our stuff ready...passports etc.

less than one month to go

15) Revise plans for excursions and what to do onboard...

16) revise packing list again...

17) dust off the rum runners again...because I'm feeling like a smuggler

less than 2 weeks to go

18) start packing...

19) have to shop all over again because nothing fits:rolleyes:

20) make another list...[yes, I like lists!]

less than 1 week to go...

21) stash the rum runners back in the closet, not feeling the urge to visit the 'naughty room' today...

22) re-pack and try to fit it all in one suitcase...

23) print set sail docs...

24) tag luggage

day before we leave...

25) re-pack and take 3 suitcases...one full of duct tape, shoe caddy's and junk I'll never use, but might need...

26) rethink the rum runners...but DH talks me out of them yet again...

27) weigh the suitcases...repack again...leave shoe caddy at home.

Add in that I am checking back on CC everyday or so...reading all I can get my hands on about where we're sailing to...and the ship...etc.

then get ready to do this all over again!

My name is Sherri, and I am addicted to cruising...

but I don't want to stop so don't sign me up for any twelve step programs! LOL!!

Unless that 12 step program is the number of steps it takes me to get on the next ship:D

Posted this several years ago. Sailing 6/9 on OASIS.

A few cruises ago, I wrote a little diddy about a severe bout of precruisitis that I was suffering prior to cruising on Explorer OTS. Hope you enjoy it and maybe you can share some of your own symptoms with us.

Meeeooowww!

Precruisitis has reached the point that I have begun doing strange things. I am daydreaming and wandering to the extent that the cat doesn't want anything to do with me. The other day I was looking through the volumes of info I have accumulated on EOtS and the cat came into my office, making that noise he makes when he wants a little bowl of afternoon milk. Papers in hand, I headed for the kitchen and continued reading as I attended to his needs. In order, the following occurred:

1) I opened the fridge and removed the milk carton from the top shelf, placing it on the counter.

2) I opened the cupboard and removed a small milk saucer, placing it next to the carton on the counter.

3) I opened the carton and poured some milk into the saucer.

4) Still reading with the papers now resting on the counter next to the saucer, I placed the saucer in its usual place on the kitchen floor.

5) Without skipping a beat, I placed the milk carton on the floor next to the saucer.

6) Anxious to get back to my reading and the boards on cruisecritic, I picked up the cat and placed him on the top shelf of the refrigerator. (I swear)

7) I hurried back to my office and continued with my favorite pasttime.

About 2 minutes later, I noticed the plaintive, muffled sounds of kitty coming from the kitchen area. At first I dismissed them completely. Shortly however, I recall being a tad bit aggravated that he was still complaining even after I had given him his afternoon milk. Slowly, but surely, the strangeness of the sound he was making began to permeate my cruise-addled brain, and I looked up from my desk in the direction of the kitchen. To my astonishment, instead of happy kitty busily lapping at his milk saucer, I beheld a silent, motionless, sweating milk carton peering disinterestedly back at me.

I must confess that it took a few seconds to sink in. Why in the heck was there a milk carton on the ground? For one brief instant, I considered absurdly the possibility that the cat had finished his milk and wanting more, somehow had opened the icebox, and gotten the milk out by himself. Of course he wouldn't be able to screw the cap off ...

I jumped up in a rare lucid moment and sprinted to the kitchen, finally understanding the meaning of the strange scene. What I wouldn't give to have had the digital camera at the ready when I opened the door. Sassy was sitting squarely in the middle of the top shelf between the cream cheese and last night's container of meatloaf, apparently having not moved at all. The look on his face was one of patient disgust. Can you blame him? For the sake of my family, and my cat, this cruise needs to happen soon!

FUNNY THREAD....hits home in many ways.

For me...I take hundreds of pictures and mess around in Photoshop

a lot. And I do local excursions.

Here's an album of pics from a Fort Jefferson seaplane trip I took

out of Key West last weekend. Used a Canon SX40.

Here's a pic of Fort Jefferson but treated with CS6 Oil Painting filter.

Vincent van Gogh look? The original is in the album, above.
