Would you do the Best of Skagway or just the White Pass Railway alone?

Below is a description of the Best of Skagway tour. I'm not totally sure if we should spend the extra money for the stuff at the end of the White Pass Railroad. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The Best of Skagway

This tour will show you all the best Skagway has to offer. First, you will ascend into the beautiful mountains on the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad. From an antique parlor car, gaze in awe at the incredible scenery while your tour guide shares the stories and history of the Klondike Gold Rush. In Fraser, British Columbia, board a deluxe motorcoach to travel the spectacular Klondike Highway to see the Tormented Valley and Pitchfork Falls. At the foot of the White Pass, nestled beside a waterfall, discover Liarsville Gold Rush Trail Camp and Salmon Bake. Here a cast of sourdoughs and dance hall girls will entertain you with a hilarious melodrama and a poem by the “Bard of the North,” Robert Service, and teach you the art of gold panning! Then, you will be set free in the Liarsville gold fields, where you are guaranteed to find that precious metal that drove men and women wild with Gold Fever! Head for the barbeque for a freshly grilled filet of Alaskan salmon, served with baked beans, potatoes, coleslaw, sourdough rolls, coffee, lemonade, and for dessert, hot apple strudel! After lunch, wander over to camp and enjoy the waterfall and sights of Liarsville as well and have your picture taken with one of the dance hall girls or the camp mascot, a lovable freight husky. The grand finale of the tour is a visit to the world famous Red Onion Saloon in historic downtown Skagway. Here, the Red Onions’ Madams will fill the glasses and throw you a private party in the prestigious upstairs brothel. Enjoy Alaskan Amber beer, wine or root beer as tales of the girls who used to work in these historic rooms entertain you! You will see the priceless nickel silver dress worn by the Onion’s first Madam – and many other original artifacts left by the “soiled doves”.

Note: Participants must be at least 16 years of age and, if under the age of 21, must be accompanied by a legal guardian. This excursion enters Canada – all participants are required to carry a valid passport or government-issued photo I.D. with a certified birth certificate. Tour may operate in reverse order.

This tour essentially goes up one side via rail and back down via bus. I think the Yukon, longer tours offer more sightseeing and especially if you want to get to the Yukon. Liarsville, is enjoyed by many and well run, decent food.

In the past- there used to be cheap tours of the Red Onion upstairs that you could go independently?
