Just back from Silver Wind

Mayflower1

Just a short Review of our recent Cruise - Rome to Venice then Venice to Istanbul.

Our first time on The Wind having spent numerous voyages on the other ships, especially Cloud. We had perhaps one of our best Cruise experiences mainly due to the superb Crew presently onboard - they could not do enough to make our time onboard a very memorable experience. It was good for us as old Venetians to see so many friendly faces and all aspects of the ship came up to our high expectations.

The new Menu in Le Champagne is first class and is likely to attract over subscription on many nights. However La Terrazza remains a favourite and the Hot Rocks is also a great attraction. The Dining Room is also delivering a very good product at the moment under a fine Exec Chef and Maitre D Jorge.

The new style entertainment is good but there needs to be a major revision of the Sound System or most people disembarking will need Surgery for pierced EarDrums !!!! - a minor quibble in an otherwise near faultless performance onboard from all standpoints.

We look forward to joining the Cloud in September, albeit ahead of the long awaited Refit ???

Good to hear Mayflower - especially after all the negative comments floating around the message boards. I entirely agree. Although seasoned Silverseaers we had our first trip on Wind in March and the staff were truly excellent.

So glad to hear that the Silver Wind is as wonderful as we remember - we fly out 2 weeks from today to join up with her...

Jorge is a wonderful maitre d' and we'll look forward to seeing him again. Eagerly anticipating some time in LC, and trying Hot Rocks - didn't know that this had reached the Silver Wind yet. Last time on board, it was just dining under the stars.

Can't wait! :D

So glad to hear you have enjoyed your experience. Can't wait for mine. On the Cloud, we dined in le Champagne twice. The first time was wonderful, the second not so. Since our day at sea will coincide with our anniversary can, you fill us in on how the menu has changed? Our main problem was with the service. It seemed they wanted everyone regardless of the time they made their reservation to be on the same course. I finally lost patience and walked our. Is there still a specific cuisine scheduled each day?

Good Morning Duct tape - so good to hear from you - hope you are both well.

You were so right when you predicted we would love the Wind as much as Cloud - quite fantastic.

We join Cloud in Barcelona on 5 Sept and disembark in Venice on 23rd - hope we meet up on the fist segment - it would be fun.

Good Morning SusanNJ - Le Champagne now has an unchanging A La Carte Menu but with plenty of choice, including Foie Gras, Duck, Dover Sole, Lobster, Steaks etc. There are no longer any Themed Menus and it is not now necessary to purchase Wine off the Special List - we feel that the surroundings make such a selection worthwhile but the Complimentary Wine Selection may well prove adequate - The Comp Wines on Wind this year were in our opinion ( very subjective I know ) of better quality than in recent years. I hope this helps in your planning - have a great time.
