Never again Aqua!

Perhaps (and we have been in AQ on the Silhouette)! But on the other hand we have looked at cruises where the savings (over AQ) by simply booking a normal balcony cabin was sufficient to pay for alternative restaurants on every night.

agreed...that can happen especially if you book guaranteed veranda or guaranteed concierge when it's offered. I'm not sure we could eat in the specialty restaurants every night....we would probably not be able to fit in the shower about mid cruise :)

Just have to add that after a 12 day cruise in AQ and eating every night in Blu we only gained 2 lbs. the whole cruise! Amazing! and the food was more than enough. Eating in MDR on the Reflection as our travel friends don't care to travel in AQ and like the main dining room. We were disappointed but are excited to go on the Reflection.

Happy Sailing All not matter what ship no matter where your cabin is or where you eat....your on vacation!:D:D

I was on the Infinity in January , post refurb. I was in AQ on the 11 th floor though. All of the upper floor cabins are location dependent. My Infinity cabin was fine, but not my recent 10 th floor Equinox AQ room. It was below a bar area.

All the Blu tables, whether its on a Millininium class ship or a Solstice class are squished together. I was a single on my last cruise, and I refused to eat in Blu if I wasn't eating with others I knew. It would have been uncomfortable to sit so close to another couple. Your best option is a window table, at least you can stare at the sea!

After some thought I agree with your observations, I would definately be fine with a veranda next cruise, especially if it was cheaper!

Just curious- which deck 10 AQ cabin were you in on Equinox? We're in 1606 for the November TA. Thanks.

Celebrity has added many more tables for two with Select and Blu than they had on their ships prior to S class and select dining. Unfortunately these tables seem to be what I'd call delicatessen style: a narrow table with the two sitting on opposite ends and placed in a row of such tables with each table not much more than a foot or so from the next. This set up allows for many more tables for two than other arraignments and it also allows the tables to be easily moved together to make up larger tables if needed. Unfortunately, while this offers a lot more tables for two than in the past it reduces the quiet and intimacy related to a table for 2. Personally I don't like this style of seating.

With that said, we love AQ and Blu. While we haven't tried this on an M class ship yet we wouldn't hesitate to do so.

These are my sentiments also! We enjoyed the tables for two on the second level near the railing.

Yes, you get all the concierge perks plus a few...and your dining room is assigned to Blu which is, for us, the most important reason to book Aqua.

We have been in cabins that should have been quiet and had neighbors who yelled, played the TV full volume at 6am and sat on their balcony talking the entire cruise. On the other hand, we have had cabins that should have been noisy that were so quiet I could hear my watch ticking. It's luck of the draw because your happiness may be dependent on your neighbors (not unique to aqua class).

You'll love Blu...the disadvantage is after you sail aqua once, you probably won't be happy with the MDR on future cruises.

Not everyone feels this way. We were more than happy to get back to the MDR after Blu.

We are in 1125 AQ next week, on the wine cruise. It looks far enough aft to me, not to have a problem from the basketball court above it. Please tell me I'm right! I once had a large suite on HAL, with the pool above and we could hear chairs moving from 6am all through the day. UGH!! This was a guaranty- hope I won't be sorry. Helaine

OP, it would be helpful to know what particular Deck 9 AQ cabin you had.

I have had less than perfect AQ cabins on S ships too but still like AQ for Blu primarily. Will be looking forward to the AQ experience on Summit in 3 months.

We just got off the Summit to Bermuda. We were in Aqua Class cabin 9100. While we didn't have any real issues with noise, the balcony was very very small. One side of the balcony was barely wide enough for the chair to sit sideways and along with a small table and another chair, there really wasn't any room to move. I'd say we had less than half the balcony space we had on Aqua Class on the Soltice. And on Solstice we had foot stools! Also, the overhang was HUGE! I also agree with many of the comments about Blu. For the most part, the food was fanstastic and the service was great, but the tables really are toooo close for comfort. We often felt as though we were intruding on our neighbors conversations. Definately not the venue for a romantic dinner, lol. However, if you do happen to arrive when they are not crowded you can pretty much choose your own table. That being said, we also chose to eat in the MDR on two occasions, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Never found an issue with crowding on the ship. Always space at the martini bar, never a problem finding a table at the buffet. Went swimming in the T-pool during dinner hour and we had the place to ourselves :D. My only disappointment was the size of the casino . . . TINY and the lack of more traditional slot machines. All in all, I loved the Summit and would not hesitate to sail her again.

On another note, we also did not receive our invitation for the connections party  Maybe next time.

Tried Aqua Class for 2 weeks but Blu not for us. We lasted 2 nights. Found dinners in the MDR better and no less healthy. Summit needs the room for select dining.

First week was a deal, second week we paid a lot fearing the MDR because of unfounded complaints about the MDR on CC. The MDR is fine in all respects.

Would book Aqua Class if a deal over verandah on Millenium class for the extra area inside and on the balcony but dine in the MDR and specialty.. This is not a complaint of Celebrity just our personal observation. Love Celebrity from downunder, to the top, the middle and next the east.

Off the Summit just two weeks ago (April 28th repositioning cruise). First time in aqua class/Blu and we loved it! Cabin 9127 and our friends in 9129 were great! No noise from above, excellent location near the mid elevators and stairs.

We didn't find Blu to be crowded with tables close together. Food was wonderful and the service was great.

I agree that the cabins below the pool/outdoor area can be noisy. We lucked out. Highly recommend these two cabins.

We have aqua class in December on the Silhouette (aft with cabins above us) and next October 2013 in aqua class (yes, we loved Blu!!!) forward and just below the beauty salon, so quiet rooms.

We booked in 9127 on Summit next April. Glad to hear good opinions regarding the location and noise. Is there a hydro panel in the shower? I loved it on Silhouette.

Did X replaced old balcony furniture?

Will appreciate your reply.

Now that Celebrity has added cabins where public areas formally were, have they revised their passenger to space ratio to reflect this change?

Connie : Gross Tonnage/Pax 91,000/2038 = 44.65

Infinity : Solsticized 91,000/2170 = 41.93

I counted 59 added cabins

Since the bulk of the new cabins (37) are AQ which are limited to double occupancy. there might not be too much difference.

60 new cabins (re added:D)

132 more pax (as per X) looks like they have already accounted for more than 2 in a cabin in the new OV and insides.

Yet to sail on a M Class that has been Solsticised ... but, as another poster in the thread (biker1972) said the deck 9 cabins have always been on deck 9 and I would add most were called CC prior to becoming Aqua.

The history of the CC class started when X took those cabins with a "Problem," noise from above, over hang etc. added some "Perks" and called them Concierge Class and charged more. Object fill them. Now that they have added Aqua class I wonder if they have added CC rooms also ? I haven't checked. Anyways it's all about filling the ship and adding different experiences with new restaurants etc.

Just cause they are called something "Special" and costs more doesn't mean they are better cabins.

Do your homework.

Yes, the shower had the hydro panel and I loved it! Doors too, and a string that goes across to hang things to dry.

Furniture - basic two chairs and table. No foot rests (balcony too small).

Leftcoast - Twelve years ago, when we booked a cruise on Millennium, a travel agent put us in one of the balcony cabins on deck 9 that is below the pool area and has an overhang. That was before they were reclassified as CC cabins, but still cost extra because the cabins were 191 SF instead of 170 SF. The noise from the pool area above us was awful, and the overhang made the balcony dark. That was the last time I ever booked a cabin based on the advice of a travel agent :)

Actually both deck 8 and deck 9 used to be CC. They then "gave" the "problem" deck 9, with the overhang and noise to Aqua Class and added Blu to counter the bad location.

Well said - how else they can fill these cabins and get more $$ for them????

The first illustration is what they have done to all M-class ships.

They have also done something similar on the new S-Class Reflection going into service in October, but instead of the Fun Factory as on the M-class ships, they are adding very high priced suites to the left side of the lounge area. I would bet a dinner in any specialty restaurant that these new suites will be added to all S-class ships when they get their first major drydocking.

M-CLASS FUN FACTORY TO LEFT OF LOUNGE.......................S-CLASS REFLECTION SUITES TO LEFT OF LOUNGE

fun%20factory%20summit.jpgSky%20Lounge%20Comparison.jpg

Yikes - I can't believe they have taken about 40% of the Sky Lounge view and given it to 1 suite. The view would of course be amazing for those 2 fortunate passengers, but not for the remaining 2848

The above has to be one of the best descriptions ever of this class of cabins! We sailed in an AQ cabin on Solstice when the price dropped below my 1A-on-the-hump. We were port forward, under Persian Garden, and heard so much noise in the middle of the night. I also truly disliked being that high up on the ship... give me a lower deck balcony and its connection with the sea any day!

As for the "perks"?? Well, I can get my own fruit and tea from the buffet, wear my own robe, enjoy my own (silk) flowers, drink my own Brita-filtered water and totally enjoy my less expensive regular balcony cabin on deck 7. :)
