Caribe Hilton questions re resort fee and cabs

Used Priceline to get room at Caribe Hilton pre-cruise.

Does anyone know the resort fee they charge?

Any idea what taxi will cost from airport to Caribe Hilton?

How about from Caribe Hilton to Carnival Cruise pier?

Also would appreciate any suggestions on room requests we should make, or rooms we should avoid. THANK YOU!

We've stayed at the Caribe a number of times, most recently in December 2011.

On our last couple of trips, our TA got us a villa room, overlooking the lagoon toward the Conrad, an old fort and bridge to our right. Had a nice French balcony. The main pool area can be noisey, but we found the villa pool to be very quiet and relaxing, enjoyed the swans, peacocks and assorted water foul walking along the paths. The resort fee was included in the total price, which for us was about $140/night.

If it's peacock mating season, avoid any of thetower/main building rooms facing the gardens - those birds will keep you awake all night! I learned that the hard way.

Cab from the airport was about $30 including luggage and tip. The morning of the cruise, we got a cab about 11: 15 to Pan Am Pier, and that ran about $15-20.

If you are staying a few days, there is a public bus into OSJ that drops off and picks up within a short walking distance of the hotel. For 75 cents, exact change only, the bus ride ends at the bus terminal, walk outside and pick up one of the HOHO trolleys that meander around OSJ.

We stayed at the Caribe post cruise last year, for just 1 night. We got a great deal on priceline as well, for the main hotel...I think it was around $90. The resort fee for the single night was around $15. We didn't make any special requests but we more than happy with our room location, we had a small balcony that overlooked the ocean, a little couch & a huge bed. More than satisfactory for us.

We paid around $20 from RCCL pier to Caribe, then another $20 to the airport with all our luggage. We took a cab up to the Forts on disembarking day, for again, around $20, but after doing the drive up, we knew it would be an easy walk back, so we just made our way back on our own when we were ready (less than a 45min walk). There is a bus stop very close, had we known of that before taking the taxi to the Fort, we'd have saved ourselves some $$.
