Seward....small friendly town that's easy to get around with beautiful scenery...go on a wildlife cruise,Sealife center, kayaking,Exit Glacier, fishing, dogsled ride, walk along the shore just to name a few things.... Anchorage is just another big city with traffic, stoplights, shopping malls ect.

In Anchorage- Mall, Costco, Walmart,...etc. Not to say you can't

enjoy Anchorage - we had a great time on the Tony Knowles Trail.

Seward is more small town Alaska though.

Just my .02

Either way - enjoy!

I too would say Seward, but not if you don't have enough time for it??? I wouldn't consider it as a day trip, an overnight is necessary in my opinion. Otherwise Anchorage has plenty of hidden gems and outskirts excellent opportunities.
