midwife56 Posted May 4, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2005 If you had an extra day, would you rather spend it in Anchorage or Seward and why??
tetleytea Posted May 4, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2005 Generally speaking, Seward. Why: Anchorage resembles the lower 48 too much. Seward is more "Alaska". That's a gross generalization, though.
GlacierLady Posted May 4, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2005 Seward....small friendly town that's easy to get around with beautiful scenery...go on a wildlife cruise,Sealife center, kayaking,Exit Glacier, fishing, dogsled ride, walk along the shore just to name a few things.... Anchorage is just another big city with traffic, stoplights, shopping malls ect.
frames Posted May 4, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2005 In Anchorage- Mall, Costco, Walmart,...etc. Not to say you can't enjoy Anchorage - we had a great time on the Tony Knowles Trail. Seward is more small town Alaska though. Just my .02 Either way - enjoy!
Budget Queen Posted May 5, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2005 I too would say Seward, but not if you don't have enough time for it??? I wouldn't consider it as a day trip, an overnight is necessary in my opinion. Otherwise Anchorage has plenty of hidden gems and outskirts excellent opportunities.
