downundermatt Posted June 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2012 Am looking forward to my first QM2 cruise this September after many cruises on Celebrity. Made the final payment mid May and am still waiting for my Cabin to be assigned. When do Cunard normally allocated Cabins, still nothing on my planner as yet ? Thanks from Australia
Salacia Posted June 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2012 Am looking forward to my first QM2 cruise this September after many cruises on Celebrity. Made the final payment mid May and am still waiting for my Cabin to be assigned. When do Cunard normally allocated Cabins, still nothing on my planner as yet ? Thanks from Australia Hi downundermatt. I'm guessing that you booked a guarantee cabin? If so, your cabin can be assigned anytime, right up until the time you check-in upon boarding the ship. But based on my personal experience, when I booked a guarantee cabin, the assignment was most often made approximately three weeks prior to boarding. I've heard that some get a cabin assignment, and then closer to voyage date get an 'upgrade'. At the very least, you will get a cabin in the category you booked, and (in my experience) at least one category better. Ah...the sweet agony of waiting for that assignment! Hope it works out well for you! Regards, -S
Dajo5601 Posted June 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2012 Hi Downundermatt. We are on the QV on the 3rd October and like you, on a "guarantee" basis and we were allocated our stateroom yesterday, it is a one category upgrade from that we've paid for, but I understand that it may well be that we could be upgraded again nearer to the time of sailing. Hope this helps, good luck and whatever - just enjoy.
Alibobs Posted June 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2012 We too heard about 3 weeks ago for our sailing in a week's time. Booked a B5 guarantee, have been allocated a B3 in a location we like the look of so very pleased
ToadOfToadHall Posted June 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2012 Ours was allocated just after I paid the balance, i.e. 3 months before we sail. Booked a guaranteed A7 and got an A4. Just under 3 weeks to go - I keep checking but no further upgrade so far.

Austcruiser84 Posted June 28, 2012 #7 Share Posted June 28, 2012 My TA already told me my cabin number for my December cruise. I didn't ask for anything specific. Is it possible the room will change? Not that I'm fussy.

Rare BlueRiband Posted June 28, 2012 #9 Share Posted June 28, 2012 Last year I was allocated a stateroom once final payment was made on a guarantee and that was also the one that I ultimately occupied. For my sailing on Sunday however I had a specific cabin at booking, but the other day the Upgrade Fairy waved her wand! Nobody has figured out how the Upgrade Fairy decides whom she will visit, and it's a sore point with many loyal passengers who have said that they have never received an upgrade. (Or at least not one they themselves considered meaningful.)
Lynnewob Posted June 28, 2012 #10 Share Posted June 28, 2012 We're booked for 28 August and received our guarantee suite allocation yesterday so for us, it's worked out at 2 months before we sail.
Ray66 Posted June 28, 2012 #11 Share Posted June 28, 2012 This year I had my assignment on one cruise two months before and on the other cruise four months before. So all in all, it could be at any time. :)
