Buying Wine in Venice

Dorset Cruiser

Recommended Posts

I know you cruise a lot. Have you ever bought wine in Venice? If so, where was the store located? We are on Crown Princess in August, embarking in Venice and would like to take a couple of decent bottles on, along with some water.

Look forward to hearing from you:)

I'll second Coop, good prices on wine and a decent selection. It's easy to get to using the people mover if you want to make a quick trip back from the ship after checking in. Make a left when exiting the people mover building, heading to the canal and all the vaporetto, make another left and the Coop is a short way down. They do charge for plastic bags, btw, I would bring a tote bag just to have something sturdier.

Directions are memory dependent, lol. If mine are wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me :D

I've attached a aerial map showing the location of the Coop. It's just past the the Piazzale Roma vaporetto stop.

After we checked in for our last cruise out of Venice, we dropped off some things in our cabin and unloaded one of our carry-ons and brought it with us to the Coop. We used it to cart our wine, soda, water, etc. back to the ship.

We are doing the cruise the opposite way round. Does anyone know where we can buy wine in Barcelona before we join Ruby Princess in 10 days?

On La Rambla, right as you turn into the Mercado de la Boqueria, there is a wine shop with a pretty good selection. I can't recall, but there may be a stall within the mercado with wine for sale...it's a natural location for one.
