Cash withdrawal from Guest Services

We are planning on doing a cash account on our next cruise and have two questions.

1. Once I deposit cash, am I allowed to withdrawal some from my account at any time, say for ports?

2. I don't want to carry a bunch of small bills onto the ship, so if I bring all 100's, will guest services exchange for smaller bills, say for tips?

Hope this makes sense :)

Yes, the guest services desk can cash any denomination of currency. I would think you could withdraw some of the money as long as you have more cash on your account than charges you've racked up. There is also a safe in your room, so you could put some of your cash in your personal safe and just withdraw some each time you are in a port.

I'm not sure you can withdraw directly from Customer Service but I know you can go into the casino and with a slot machine, you can withdraw from your S&S card to the machine, play a few spins, put the "winnings" into your Casino account, then go to the cage to cash out your casino account.

To answer your questions........yes and yes to both. However I know that I don't want to run down to Guest Services every time I need smaller bills. I bring smaller bills and larger bills and then I will just lock it up in the safe. It is much more convenient than going to guest services when you need something

Pretty sure you are not able to withdraw money from your S&S account but there are ways to do it.

You need to set up your players bank at the slot machine and load it with money from your S&S account. You can then cash out (cashless system) and turn the ticket to the cashier's window They will only allow you to take out $200 a day this way

Best thing to do is to either bring cash and keep it in your safe or traveler's checks and cash them at Guest Services.

We always take cash. $100 in $1 bills the rest in $20's. Keep all in safe. I don't like going to costumer service and standing in line. I have more important things to do. Like sitting around with a drink and my book!:) Also be careful with traveler checks. Our bank doesn't even give them out anymore. They aren't accepted everywhere.

correct- you can NOT withdrawal cash from the sign and sail at guest services. They can break big bills into smaller ones.

But withdrawing cash through a slot machine is the easiest cheapest way to do that.

We do cash accounts and usually apply a certain amount to our S&S account and put the rest in the safe. You can withdraw from your account at the casino, but once you pull into port, the casinos are closed so if you don't do it the night before, you will be out of luck. You can bring 100's, but like others have said bring some smaller bills with you... especially ones so you can tip the porters and your room service staff.

We use the 'envelope' method. We figure out how much we want to put down on our S&S account and then I figure out how much we will spend each day and put that amount into a envelopes. I put the envelopes in the safe and each morning before leaving port, I pull out that days envelope. Keeps us on budget and since the rest of the money is in the safe, we are not carrying around excess cash. If I don't spend all of the money by the end of the day, it goes either into the next days envelope or the last one to take home with us. Works like a charm... for us! Others will think we are silly for doing this, but again.... it works for us.

Op, have a great cruise!!!

I use the envelope method as well and it does work great at keeping us on track.

I agree with those about using the room safe...we always do a cash account...we put in the amount for the gratuity...the amount we plan on spending... we bring along $50s,in 1's for taxis in port and tips if we eat , and extra cash in our cabin safe....we have never felt afraid to use the safe ever.... hope this helps...happy crusin...

We do this, too - to keep me on budget in the casino. :) The envelope method is a MUST for my roommate and I, on both cruises and land vacations!

On my last cruise I was able to withdraw cash from guest services. They make you sign a receipt for the withdrawal.

You can also "cash out" your account on the last sea day and you won't receive a refund check in your stateroom.

Just bring a couple hundred dollars in one's, 5's, & 10's.

Whats the big deal on carrying cash?

Nothing is going to happen.

I usually carry on $2000 in cash.

Much less of a hassle than dealing with the ship..

I was curious about this too because we plan on using cash instead of our credit card/debit card to set up our account. I think that I'll also use the "envelope" method. I was told that we HAVE to set up something on our S&S account but we plan on taking advantage of the "free" drinks (lemonade, tea, etc). The only thing that I plan on buying is a t-shirt. Anyway, does anyone know the minimum amount we have to put on the account? Thanks.

For cash accounts, the guest must deposit money at the Guest Services Desk on the first day of the cruise. The following minimum cash deposits are recommended:

2 - 4 day cruise: $100 per person

5 - 8 day cruise: $200 per person

9 day or longer: $350 per person

You actually have 24 hours to fund your account if you are using cash and can do it at either GS (which is a ZOO on embarkation day) or at one of the several S&S kiosks around the ship......

This is when the S&S account is backed by a CC. No idea how it is handled when it is a cash account.

Large bills can also be broken at the cashier cage in the casino.

Your welcome!! On our last cruise, I over estimated how much I would spend each day (or underspent, not sure which... lol) and had a nice amount to bring home with me!)

I also keep about $20 in ones in one of our drawers to tip the room service folks! I have never had a problem!

Have a great cruise!!!
