santamaria Posted May 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2005 We leave for Anchorage Tuesday - 6 nights land, driving to Talkeetna and Denali, train to Seward. Weather.com now shows rain all week for every town I enter. Can anybody up there give me any better local weather news?
judytata11 Posted May 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2005 When I went it showed rain every day and we had a total of 1 hr. of rain all week!!
GloriaF Posted May 8, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2005 Send up your prayers for sun for all of May. :) I will be there the last 2 weeks of May, and I have a lot of cruise friends going various times in May. We all chose May because it is said to be the driest month in AK, even though nothing is guaranteed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and thinking positive thoughts. mii Posted May 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2005 Even though the weather channel says rain most of the time it is a shower or two. That is why always take an umbrella with you. Have a great cruise. Marilyn
Budget Queen Posted May 8, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2005 Be prepared for it all, no guarantees on predictions. :)
General Max Posted May 8, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 8, 2005 We went at the end of August last year and had a brief shower in Sitka while we were there. That was it for 14 days. We did experience smoke at Fairbanks and Denali for two days. That was more irritating than rain. Cheers General Max
george@sea Posted May 8, 2005 #7 Share Posted May 8, 2005 We leave for Anchorage Tuesday Can anybody up there give me any better local weather news? Here's a few URLs that deal with weather: National weather service: http://weather.gov And Weatherunderground: http://www.wunderground.com I have most of the ads at weather.com blocked because of the ad sites being in my host file. All I'd see pretty much is a skull so weather.com doesn't do well on my computer. :)
CruiseIsGood Posted May 8, 2005 #8 Share Posted May 8, 2005 You can also try accuweather.com Alaskan posters, if you're not busy with the tourist season, how's the weather?
CaribbeanBlue Posted May 8, 2005 #9 Share Posted May 8, 2005 I'm in Ketchikan right now. The past five days have been sunny and in the high 60's. They tell me that this is very rare. CaribbeanBlue http://www.*****.org
Bribrittmom Posted May 8, 2005 #10 Share Posted May 8, 2005 Last June before we went the Weather Channel said rain and highs in the fifties. It was sunny every day except one with temps in the 70's.
