Lavender Fields?

Does anybody have any recommendations for a tour to see the lavender fields in Provence?

 

We are docked in Toulon and are there from 9-5. Is it even realistic to leave the boring town of Toulon with this amount of time?

You do not say when you will be in Toulon.The height of the lavender fields is late June through July.I have not been to Toulon,but here is a link to cut and paste and it may give you some info for the area. You should have a good amount of time there.

We will be in Toulon the middle of July, which I believe is peak season. We just hope we have time to see it!

I'm not sure that you'd need a tour per se. It's lavendar, and it's fields. More or less treats for your visual and olfactory senses. We've arranged for a car rental at our Marseille port stop and are just driving out to Valensole plateau about 60 miles away. Then maby a stops in Saint-Martin-de-Brômes and/or Aix-en-Provence. Enjoy!

9 to 5 in Toulon is plenty of time to go to other more interesting places. Aix, Hyeres, etc.

Lavender is a commercial crop in the area. You see the fields like you see cornfields in Iowa. Get in a car and drive around.
