su-arizona Posted June 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2012 Our Oceania cruise stops in Motril for access to Granada. There appears to be no train service, and I've been unable to find any car rental agencies in town. Any advice? We had hoped to rent a car and drive to Nerja, but it looks impossible. Help! Rare VMax1700 Posted June 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2012 There is no train, but a reasonable bus service. Local bus company is Alsa. try alsa.es. there is an english version. It should be no problem to get to Nerja, but the return time could be problematic
TERRIER1 Posted June 25, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2012 We just returned from Motril on our Oceania cruise. We were part of a private tour to Granada to see the Alhambra. Our time in port was short - 10 to 6 pm. Because of high winds the ship was late in mooring so we didn't get off till 10:30 am. There is no train transportation down to Nerja as far as I am aware. Last year we took the bus from Malaga up to Nerja. We used the bus and as stated before the company is Alsa. We had no problem but be aware of the time schedules and when the ship leaves. Also, there are local buses and express buses.
