mommabean Posted May 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2005 Hi, While cruising in the Caribbean we were told to stay on ship time - not local time while in port. During the Alaska cruises does the ship change over to Alaska time or do they stay on Vancouver time during the entire week?
CruiseIsGood Posted May 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2005 In my experience, yes, they do change. There should be an announcement and also it should be in your on-board daily newsletter.
Budget Queen Posted May 8, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2005 Yes the ship goes to Alaska time during the second day usually and back again the as they leave Alaska.
mii Posted May 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2005 When the ship goes from one time zone to another they also put a little note on your pillow. I know they do this on Princess ships. Marilyn
mommabean Posted May 9, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted May 9, 2005 Thank you all. I had wondered about this since I booked a couple of excursions on my own. And then I got to wondering if the times I booked them for would coincide with the ship's time. I think it was in St. Thomas where the time was different and they warned us that the ship wouldn't be switching over. It must have been because the time zone was different in only one port that they chose not to go back and forth in time during the same day. That's one less thing to worry about.
