gkm Posted May 3, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Princess, There isn't ANYTHING you can do! The days will continue to drag, until the last work day. Then all of a sudden your co-workers realize you won't be there the next week and the "I needs" begin. Then there won't be enough hours for that day, especially since you were hoping to get off early and finish the last minute packing! Rare Lois R Posted May 3, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2004 yep...it will seem like it will NEVER get here...looking at that calender..every day. Then...Thursday night will be here...and Friday you will be off to FLL..... And then, you will wonder about it..that the days took so long and BOOM...you are on the ship. All that anticipation will come to fruition And I hate to tell you.....but the week will be there and gone in the snap of a finger. Good things always go by very fast and so I hope you end up having one of your best weeks EVER Next up...HORIZON Sept 18th to Bermuda! Kathleen P. Posted May 3, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 3, 2004 This is what I do...we love to travel and every trip is like the first. It's like being a kid the night before Christmas 1) I start shopping:0) 2 months before - hey you can never have enough shoes! Last cruise I packed 22 pairs and wore them all! I keep vacation clothes new and do not wear them until the trip. We won the newleywed game on our Century cruise becasue my husband knew how many shoes I packed for myself - but that's another story... 2) When I know what I am packing I pack it - this could be 2-3 weeks before departure date. If you are not going to wear it...might as well pack it. Don't overpack your suitcases - 70 lbs is the weight limit for airlines. 3) 4 days before - Packing Beauty Products - My favorite- I shop for my favorite "vacation fragrances" matching shower gels, soaps, body lotion my favorites are Fresh in Lily and Creed Spring Flower worn together - when I wear it at home it always reminds me of VACATION!..special shampoos so my hair does not fade in the sun. you know all the girly stuff. Pack that stuff up in a carry on with your jewelery..and blowdryer (a must the ship blowdryers are terrible they are the wall mounted type with no power!) 4) 4-5 days before have the house clean and laundry all done and eat out so you don't mess up the house! 5) The day before I go the the salon and get haircut, blowout, mani-pedi and massage. My DH ussully comes home with a bottle of Champagne and we go out for a fine dinner. See there you go...plenty to do..not much time, your vacation is HERE...Enjoy this part too! By the time your trip comes you will be coiffed, buffed, polished, rested, organized, well dressed and well fed Stress free to enjoy your wonderful trip. It's a great plan! It's fun being a Diva!

teedee Posted May 4, 2004 #16 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Princess - I think what you are doing is probably the best thing. Try to stay really busy at work and the time will go by a little faster. Of course it's still going to take forever for Friday to get here. By Saturday afternoon it will all be worth it. Martini workouts are a good idea too! Those things can kick your rear if you're not used to them. Shirley and Les Posted May 4, 2004 #17 Share Posted May 4, 2004 POQAL The old price list that was posted on the wall of my barber's shop seems to work: Answers $ 5.00 each Answers requiring thought $10.00 each Correct Answers $25.00 each Of course, dumb looks and vacant stares are still free!!!! In the last few days, I think a simple explanation of "Look, I am leaving for a weeklong cruise on Friday. You obviously have mistaken me for someone who gives a dam*." works best.
