Port or Starboard?

Recommended Posts

There is no way. We have always cruised on The Voyager (RCL) and even though we always got a portside stateroom and visited the same ports, half the time we were facing portside and other times we were facing the Starboard side.

As others have stated: It all depends. Probably on the tides, wind direction, other ships in port and personal preference of the Captain.

But if you're taking a poll, here is how the Star docked in each of those ports in February 2012:

  • Roatan - port side to land
  • Belize - a tender port, anchored to far out to really see anything, but port side to land
  • Costa Maya - the bow was toward land but the Carnival ship in port at the same time had port side to land
  • Cozumel - starboard side to land, and the Sun was docked next to us with starboard side to land as well

But it all depends because I've seen photos posted here that showed the Star with starboard side to land in Roatan.
