Hi, please can anyone tell me what the entertainment was and was like on here, was there enough going on in the evening until late, also was there a disco and did anyone go.

Also was there a good all inclusive drinks package, ie speciality coffees and smirnoff vodka

Also what were good cabins, and ones that were quiet.

Thank you in advance - any info greatly appreciated.

Here, from my review, is my very personalised opinion

Entertainment:

Well it certainly wasn't my cup of tea but then I had a feeling it wouldnt be, thank goodness I took a supply a music with me.

The Royal observatory , just by our room , was a nice place ruined by this father and son duo, which Ukrainian street corner did they come from? The Father played piano as if there weren't enough notes in a melody and the son sawed his way through the most hackneyed set of tunes Ive had the misfortune to hear.

Then there were the Filopinos Oh dear. They were like an Asiatic Karaoke act with as much charisma as a mackeral ...to say they were mechanical and wooden would be ...an understatement. You could hear this stuff 40/50 years ago my 90 year old parents would have enjoyed it [ maybe not the old man ]The stuff of working men's clubs, surely we've gone beyond that? maybe not, lots of people seemed to be having fun, so it must be me Dont Brits play cruises any more? at least they would have more empathy with the material.

Phil Doyle was brilliant - fair play butty and saved things, entertainment wise.

The youngsters were hard working and energetic but were clearly coralled into a formulaic cruise style which - whoever thinks these things up - believes the public wants

We like most of the entertainment. We enjoyed the Majesty singers and the group Muzzik Unlimited were excellent. Did not like the trio at all that played on deck and I believe in the Royal Fireworks where the gameshows etc were but we never went there. We also enjoyed the piano and violin in the Royal Observatory. There was Music in the Polo Lounge next to the Casino most of the evening. There was indeed a disco which I believe has been well received and went on til after 2. There were also a number of deck parties which were ok but not as good as others because there really isn't much space to dance.

The AI drinks package does not include speciality coffees but some liquers are included so we would have a coffee and drambuie which were both included in the AI. You can ask for a drinks menu in any of the bars and you will see what is free. There is a small charge for drinks that are not included and they are marked with an asterisk. Smirnoff is included but you have to ask for it or you will be given local spirits.

I cannot answer the question about cabins but maybe someone else can.

Dont believe other comments. Entertainment was right up our street with the entertainment staff making up for the low budget with enthusiasm, talent and 110% commitment. We saw the Queen, Lloyd Webber and Abba tributes as well as the normal song and dance nights and were very impressed. The guest acts were a comedian from Wales who was ok and ran through the basic Benidorm type gags and one liners, and an ex Drifter from New Yoyk (how many were in the drifters?) who sang some Soul and Motown type songs. The resident 6 piece band Muzik Unlimited were 1st class both musically and vocally. I have to agree about the fiddle and piano duo and the 3 piece band being downright dodgy. Don’t miss the crew talent show.

I believe the above comments to be just as true as yours are Billyjey;):D

Glad you enjoyed it all and I hope I do too.:)

Dont believe other comments.

What a strange thing to say, everybody has different opinions and just because you loved the entertainment, doesn't mean everyone else did.

People join these forums for honest opinions, from genuine customers, and it is up to them to decide if they are encouraged or discoraged by the various comments.

I thought the entertainment was like something found in a holiday camp cira 1970's, but I admit that I am in the minority, and many on board seemed to enjoy it, and good luck to them.

I agree with you Debs. Everyone has different tastes - what this forum provides is an opportunity to read a range of opinions and perhaps from those gain an insight into the type of entertainment on offer and whether it's your cup of tea or not.

As long as people express fair opinions which are expained and preferably backed up by examples then i think it's possible to extract the bits of information which matter to you the reader - and potential customer.

Whatever your tastes in entertainment (or even you have no interest in the entertainment at all) it's an element of cruising which can influence people's choices.

I didn't care for the type of entertainment in the Majesty showlounge (not commenting on its quality - simply the style and lack of variety) and this is a point which we would consider when booking on this ship. But at least we would be going knowing the score. The people I feel for are those who are unaware that it's different on Majesty and then being disappointed because they aren't getting the 'usual' offerings once on the cruise.

At least this kind of open debate allows members to be informed. But that does depend on shades of opinion and I would defend everyone's right to express their views and believe that the Forum should support that. However I would hope that individuals shouldn't be dismissive or rude about others' views or express their opinions by 'knocking' those who don't share their opinions.

Not a patch on the other ships because the ceiling is to low in the theater, thus no Broadway type shows, would not set foot on this boat again!

So good to have you back kruzseeka, glad to hear you had a good time :)

My earlier post , endorses what you , Debs and Boatboy have put and I respect each and everyone of your opinions:)

If Billyjay has had a great time ,then great but we should not ignore all other posters based on that .

I'm sure Billyjay had no malice in that comment , just still giddy from all that enjoyment ;)

Fresh back off her and we enjoyed most of the entertainment we saw. From the showteam to the band Elegant Touch. We loved Steve the pianist in the Rendezvous and Polo Club lounges. I agree with the comments about the theatre, the ceiling is definitely too low both over the stage and audience area.

The one show we didn't enjoy was the one where they did modern songs in a classical style. It did not work as either modern or classical music.

For the 1st time we missed the UK guest comedian, too busy having a good time elsewhere, but people we spoke to loved him.

The heading is "dont believe the bad reviews its ok" not dont believe other comments.

This was directed a the condition of the ship which was desribed as a "rusty old tub" on one site. I had also read other postings on other sites mostly from tinpot millionaires that expected way way much more than they had paid for. I paid for butlins on a boat and i got it (maybe from the 90s not 70s). Its a cold hard fact that most companies aim to please the majority and as you say you are in the minority, neither is right or wrong. I go on holiday for a laugh and i got it. The ship is ok the entertainment ok and the food ok. Hope this explains my comment and hope that i have not offended anyone.

Hi Billyjey, thanks for clearing that up :).

To be fair if you look at your post above their is no heading stating "dont believe the bad reviews its ok" ,

hence the confusion off us lot :o.

We lot on here are a happy bunch and I'm sure that you have not offended anyone at all .

Thanks for your valid input , it makes sense now for the point you were making .

Oh and welcome to our happy forum Billyjey hope you enjoy your time on here .:D:D;)

Depends I think upon what you want -if it is great entertainment then it seems you look elsewhere. If its the itinery -seems a good un

We loved her and didn't want to come off on Friday :(

that describes it perfectly. the entertainment show team and music unlimited kept us amused and entertained for a few hours before bed without being boring. we sailed with Princess in february and the shows were way better! (the cost was way more) I am Scottish and nearly as mean as the northerners "AHH MOOCH" as they say in yorks and this cruise was just a "wee cheapy", (got it All Inc for the price of a week in Tenerife) to tide us over the winter. My neighbour has never been with anyone other than thomson and loves it. I dont plan to be back with thomson,- But -if a great deal comes up never say never as its not exactly "slumming it". sory about not using icons as they bug me.
