funredhead Posted June 26, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Thanks. Is there a land based casino? And how far is it from the ship? I appreciate your help.
Guindalf Posted June 26, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Casino gambling is not permitted in Bermuda. So no, no casinos near or even far from the ship. You'll just have to find something else to do rather than feed your money into a slot machine for 2.5 days!

It was awesome for us as we tend to lose track of time and spend all of our waking hours in the casino. I saved money and got out and about on the ship :) But it was like a stampede when they opened it again when we left Bermuda :D

There won't be an urgency to get back, so we'll enjoy other things more.

saleaaway Posted June 28, 2012 #10 Share Posted June 28, 2012 Don't know when your traveling but there was an article posted that NCL and the Bermuda government have come to some type of agreement. Next year in early spring when the Breakaway starts to go to the island they might allow casino to be opened for select hours each night.
TJM965 Posted June 28, 2012 #11 Share Posted June 28, 2012 That's why I will not cruise to Bermuda. Sorry, but I need a Casino available. Been on 7 cruises. Lost on 4, won on 3. Blackjack and craps.
yoyocruiser Posted June 28, 2012 #12 Share Posted June 28, 2012 I thought it was a great compromise. Casino open down and back --but while there could totally enjoy other things and save some money!!;)
smeyer418 Posted June 28, 2012 #13 Share Posted June 28, 2012 you know if you look at the amount of hours the casino is open on a cruise that has three or four stops on a seven day cruise and a Bermuda cruise the casino is open nearly the same number of hours. The Bermuda legislature has rejected all such agreements. There is a considerable number of people on the Island who want no gambling period. CruiseWithUs64 Posted July 8, 2012 #16 Share Posted July 8, 2012 Nope :( I have a friend who is considering a Bermuda cruise. So the casinos are closed. What about the shops and entertainment (like shows etc) which are not allowed in ports either. Are they open and continue on overnight?

The reason why I asked is because of this website: http://www.bermuda-online.org/cruises.htm. Docking in Bermuda. When this happens, your cruise ship's casinos, entertainment options, retail shops, will be closed, not open, by law in Bermuda. Bermuda is the only cruise destination in the world where this applies. Only if the entertainment is provided by Bermudians is an exception made. Grandpaof4 Posted July 8, 2012 #20 Share Posted July 8, 2012 Thanks. The reason why I asked is because of this website: http://www.bermuda-online.org/cruises.htm. We were on the Star to Bermuda 6/21 to 6/28. When the ship was docked in port, we enjoyed entertainment on the ship, however casino and shops were all closed until we left Bermuda .
