Getemani Market

Anyone familiar with the open air produce and seafood market in Cartagena? Called Getemani. Supposedly the place for foodies. Would love to visit and spend some time. On cruise in December. Directions or comments? thanks.

Many years ago the public market was located by the area of Getsemani. However, it has moved and now the Convention Center is located in its place. The public market is called Mercado Bazurto and is located not too far from the cruise port. It is a very interesting place where everything is sold. Mostly locals with very few tourists visiting there. A real cultural experience! You could get a taxi to take you there and walk around, however care should be taken to not go with valuables.

 

For some ships visiting, there has been a cooking tour offered that included a visit to the market to buy the various local ingredients. Check the shore excursions your ships offers.
