We just returned from our cruise on the Conquest July 1st thru 8th. This was our 4th cruise, we have been on Holiday, Fantasy, Elation and now Conquest. Have a group of 10 - Myself, DW, 2 sons age 14, daughter and her husband, my dad and his friend, and my wifes sister age 15, and close friend of family ( age 50)

I am going to try and upload some pics - hope I can figure it out.

We are from NE Oklahoma, this is first time we have flown. Flew from Tulsa to Houston then into New Orleans on Saturday night. Stayed at Pelham Hotel, was nice place to stay, about 5-10 minutes from port.

Got to port about 10:30. Luggage quickly unloaded and we went in. By 10:45 we had went thru security, got our sign and sail cards, and had our group photo taken. Now did have to wait til about 11:30 to get on boat due to wedding on board. Super easy and smooth. Our cabin was 1065, just a few steps to the slide entrance and overlooking the pools on Lido. PERFECT location for our room. Cabin steward was outstanding, asking each day how things were and if he could do anything. The entire staff was so friendly all the time.

thought the Conquest was very nice. Had early seating in Monet dining room. Our wait staff was outstanding. One of my sons is a special needs 14 year old foster child. The staff was very good with him and the 2nd asst gave him special attention each night, always getting him up to dance with the crew.

Food was great

as was service. Had read a lot of negatives but we did not see any of them.

we enjoyed our days at sea. We don't lay out by the pool. Like to do the trivia games, just sit and visit, people watch, etc. lost little at blackjack table and did not go back. Went to couple of "gameshows" - just relaxed and took it easy. Did not win big at bingo in our 1 attempt.

There were live musicaians and music in he afternoons late into the night. Couple in Lobby were really good, as were bands in Casino area.

Went to opening nignt welcome show. Were 4 comedians at Punchliner club thru the week - it is super crowded in there, would like to have them in main theatre. Saw 3 or them, 2 good and 1 bad. Did not go to Paris musical show, but did attend Majic show and juggler - don't miss these, especially the juggler. Our freind who travels with us was in Legends show on last night. Also went to Click and Point musical, it was pretty good, enjoyed it.

Took my son on Behind the Fun Tour, enjoyed it.

One negative - ate in main dining room to redeme our free drinks. We are "red" in the new loyalty program. Could not get anyone to take our drink order, even thought we only order "virgin" drinks. Your free drinks have to be redemed in main dining room for breakfast or lunch. You might want to try and redeme them early. the last 2 sea days the dining room at lunch was crazy crazy.

did not lke this port that much - long drive to beach. Went to Junkanoo Beach Club- it was OK. Tons of seaweed the day we were there put a damper on the beach. People running beach club did not seem to organized. Did not eat at beach, stayed about 4 hrs and went back to boat.

loved this port. Went to the Sheraton and bought the day passes, it was beautiful there. Food very expensive but beach and resort super nice. Stayed most of day here, bought few t shirts around the port. 4 ships here today so seemed pretty crowded.

@coachwardog,

I'm enjoying your review, we will be onboard the Conquest July 29th.

Funny that you mentioned the crews treatment toward your 14 year old special needs son. I also have a 14 yo son with special needs. I must say, more than ANY other vacation, including multiple (20+) Disney trips, the crews on the Carnival cruises that we have take have treated him so extremely well; above and way beyond! It's no wonder why Carnival cruises have become his favorite vacation, and why we now cruise every summer. I'm so happy to hear you had the same experience!

we were not in hurry to get off ship since we knew that our hotel would not be ready for awhile. We were in group 6 to leave ship. we waited about hour after our group was called on Lido deck before heading off ship. By time we got to luggage area ours was only luggage left in that area. Moved very quickly thru customs and was at our hotel near airport by 11 am. Stayed at Sleep Inn and Suites at 4601 N I-10 service rd, metarie. super nice hotel and very friendly staff.

arranged for limo tour of New Orleans - Limo was nice but tour was not. Driver not know a great deal about New Orleans, mainly wanted to talk about his life history. Only disappointing thing about our vacation.

left early monday morinng - was back in Tulsa by little after noon.

Only bad part was my son in law got very sick week before cruise and they had to cancel the day before we left, was hard to leave my daughter, son in law, and grandson at home.

we had arranged a large van to take us to Pelham Hotel - was $13 each. From there to port was $42 for taxi - we had 5 in each taxi. From Port to Sleep Inn was also $42. From Sleep inn to airport was $50 - not sure how they determine the cost - seems like shorter trips were charged more.

Thank you we r staying at the sleep inn in Metairie the night before the cruise and they say they let u park for free for the time of your cruise so i was just seeing which way would be cheaper.. Taking a taxi to port or park at the port.. Sounds like it will cost the same :( oh well at least I'm on a ship hahahaha
