Regatta - tips needed for Newbies to O. Rest Reservations, Alcohol, Etc...?

We will be sailing Regatta in November for 7 nights. 1st timers on Oceania. We are in mid 40's. No kids on this trip. We have inside stateroom.

 

- What do we need to know about dining? Specialty Restaurants?

- What do we need to know about alcohol? Bring onboard for stateroom?

- Refridgerator in stateroom?

- Safes in stateroom?

- Any tips that we should know about to help us get the most out of the ship?

- Men's/Women's steam room or sauna? Free or paid?

May I suggest you get your hands on a YOUR WOLD YOUR WAY and read from cover to cover. You might also contact Oceania reservations with said questions and/or your TA? Suggested sources will give accurate infomation.

I offer this advice in the best of spirits as it appears from questions you haven't read Oceania YOUR WORLD. Kinda like buying a house sight unseen or a mail order bride in a bottle.

Simple questions, answers are all available with a little research from the above suggestions and here on cc. Part of the fun of a cruise or trip is doing the research, at least for most of us. You will enjoy your experience on Oceania.

Can't speak for Regatta as not been on that ship but (briefly) with Oceania generally:

 

Speciality restaurants are free, and excellent, and you will be able to make one or two bookings on-line 45 days advance for Polo Grill or Toscana if you have an inside cabin. Go to Already Booked on the web site.

 

You can bring sensible levels of alcohol of all types onboard for consumption in your cabin.

 

I think there is a fridge in all cabins these days but as I said I have not been on Regatta.

 

There is a safe in all cabins.

 

Any other tips?: Yes. While there are no formal evenings most people (especially the ladies) dress nicely for dinner in the Grand dining room and speciality restaurants. Food everywhere is uniformly excellent and the staff superb.

 

Enjoy yourselves. Oceania is a great line and the R ships are more intimate than some of the floating monsters and have a country club atmosphere.

Specialty restaurant you need a reservation but no extra fee

- What do we need to know about alcohol? Bring onboard for stateroom? You can but they now have drink packages that may work for you

Also for light lunches try WAVES by the pool, ice cream & milkshakes also there & no charge

If you like Cappuccino or espresso(no charge by the way) just ask at the dining venues or there is a self serve station in Terrace

We love the library no need to bring along extra books they have a good variety ..no need to wait for library hours it is open & on the honour system

 

The evening around dinner time there is a string quartet on deck 5 near the shops worth stopping for a bit

Afternoon tea is another not to miss venue you can go everyday in Horizons @ 4pm

We are also in our 40s and had a wonderful time on Oceania in April.

My best advice is to find your rollcall under your cruise dates.

You will be able to chat with those on your exact cruise, make touring plans, and ask questions.

No, the refrigerators were added to all cabins on the R ships fairly recently.

Actually, they are mini-bars and come fully stocked, but you can ask your cabin attendant to make room if you want to store something of your own. :D

Ohhh...that would have been dangerous for us. We got into enough trouble without the fully stocked mini-bar! :p

That's strange -- the R ships (of which Insignia is one) have had refrigeratoirs in every cabin from Category A veranda (Concierge) and up, including the penthouse suites, since at least 2006 when I first sailed Oceania.

There were added to all cabins form category B and below within the last couple of years.

As Jim mentioned, all you have to do is ask the room steward or stewardess to remove the contents of the mini-bar you don't want. Remember that all soft drinks, juices, bottled water, etc. are free on all Oceania ships, including those in the mini-bar. Just ask your room attendant to keep the fridge stocked with your favorite choice, I like lots of Diet Coke, and ask for at least 4 cans in the fridge all the time!
