Sunmail Posted April 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2004 We're on the Star Princess in May and will be going to Rome. We've been to the Colosseum before but didn't go in. We'll have limited time so I would like to get tickets in advance if possible. Does anyone know of a web site where they can be ordered? I'm also wondering if it's worth the time to go in? I've heard mixed reviews so any info you can offer would be greatly appreciated. roothy123 Posted April 3, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2004 I can't really help you with your question directly, but will follow it, since I'm in a similar situation (going there in May; debating about going inside). However, here's what someone else said about getting tickets, if you choose to buy them on the day you're there: Ticket for Coloseum also covers Palatine Hill ruins. Costs 8 or 10E. As you face the Arch of Constantine, on the Colos. side, turn right and walk down the Via Sacra toward the Imperial Forum. As you approach the Arch of Titus, just before the tiny guard shack on the left, you will see a path that angles off up the Palatine Hill. A short distance up the hill at the head of that path is a ticket office with no lines.
Sunmail Posted April 3, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 3, 2004 Now that you mention it I recall seeing something like that when we were there before. Thanks for the tip! SteveS Posted May 2, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2004 The Coliseum is definitely worth seeing. Last year we used Max Leotta and he took care of everything. Rare MVPinBoynton Posted May 2, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 2, 2004 The Palatine Hill ticket office takes the hassle out of going into the Coliseum. The first time we were in Rome, on a land tour, we passed on the Coliseum because of the long line. Danielle showed us where to go to get the tickets on Palatine and it was a breeze. It was so nice to just pass up the long lines that everyone was waiting in and just go on it.
