Ok for those who gave your input on my past post.....

The guy with the airmiles has this availiable......

DFW/LGA arrive Sat 1:25pm 1 layover

return Sun LGA/DFW at 5:08pm, 1 layover, not home till 10:15pm, BUT first class :D

OR

DFW/EWR arrive Sat 9:52am direct flight

return Sun EWR/DWF leaves 12:58pm arrives 3:48 direct flight

In your opinion, would you fly into LGA and stay there, and get home late,

OR fly into EWR stay in NJ and have direct flights.

Neither of the layovers is for very long.

So, I guess your prior assumption that you would be flying into either LGA or JFK isn't true, and it will be LGA or EWR instead?

Are you still interested in staying in Manhattan and doing some sightseeing, particularly the 911 Memorial, before your cruise? While LGA is closer to Manhattan, it looks as though your flight times into and out of EWR are a lot better...you'll arrive early enough to do something later that day, and you won't have to wait all day for your flight on your return home.

If you fly into EWR and stay there, it would be easy to drop your luggage off at a hotel and have more time in the city (once you get over there).

Direct flights are always a blessing too, so that has to be a huge advantage!!

Honestly, I would just fly into EWR and stay there and then go over into the city once you drop your luggage off.

BOTH have drawbacks.

DFW/LGA flight-one little glitch and you miss all of your sightseeing time. BUT getting to the return flight out of EWR could be VERY tight.

So you have a few options. EWR flight:

1. Find a hotel in Manhattan, take the Coach USA bus from the airport to Port Authority, do your sightseeing, take your cruise the following day and TAKE A CAR SERVICE arranged in advance from the ship BACK to the airport (otherwise you will never make the flight).

2. Take Secaucus taxi from EWR to one of the many Secaucus hotels ($40 for the taxi, $125 or less for a VERY decent hotel). Then take the bus (320) into Manhattan for sightseeing. You can take the bus/train or taxi back to your hotel. Have Secaucus taxi take you to the port. Again, after your cruise you will have to make arrangements IN ADVANCE to have a car service or Secaucus taxi get you to EWR. http://www.secaucustaxi.com/

JMHO, but DO NOT stay at any of the EWR hotels unless it is the NJ Penn Station Hilton. Just too difficult for those not used to public transportation to make all the changes-get from the hotel to the Airtrain to train or PATH and get it right. Also, NOT particularly a good idea coming back at night with the transfer to Airtrain from train/PATH to the airport for a hotel shuttle. You should pay a taxi to take you back to your EWR hotel (about $25.00) UNLESS you stay at the Penn Station Hilton (which is joined to the train/PATH station).

LGA flight:

1. Again, find a hotel in Manhattan, take a taxi/car service to the hotel ($30-35), do your sightseeing, go on your cruise and return to the airport via taxi from the taxi line at the port (you have PLENTY of time).

2. For a MUCH cheaper hotel (and just about the same amount of time to get to sightseeing)-see this thread-http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1666188. Read from Post 18 and on. You can take the train in and out of the City for sightseeing and a taxi to the port and a taxi to the airport (about $70).

It all adds up to budget.
