Port to airport transfers in venice

Have booked our own flights for our forthcoming Med and Greek Isles cruise on Crown Princess but are using Princess transfers. The cruise ends in Venice and docks at 5 am. Our return flight home doesn't leave until 1.40 pm so we're worried that we'll be dumped off the ship and transferred to the airport way before departure time and if memory serves me right, Marco Polo is a very small airport, certainly not one where you would wish to spend a lot of time. Can anyone who has ended a cruise in Venice give any advice on the ship to Airport transfer timings.

The latest you will be off the ship is around 9:30 AM.

 

I do not know what time their last xfer to the airport would leave.

 

You want to be at the airport at least 2 hours before your flight.

 

It is not a very small airport.

Princess airport transfers are normally among the first colors called to disembark after the self-disembarkers. With the transfer, you won't have a choice of what color/time you disembark since its done by flight time. Chances are you'll be dropped off at the airport by mid-morning. If you prefer to disembark a little later, you'll have to arrange independent transportation.

The bus runs from Piazza Roma.

 

To get to it, the OP would have to bring the luggage to the People Mover, take that to Piazza Roma, and then bring the luggage across the Piazza to the bus location.

 

I am not sure this would be worth the effort although it would use up some of the time the OP has to spare that morning.

 

It would definitely be less expensive than the Princess transfers.

Did this cruise 2 weeks ago. Princess transfers are $49 pp to Marco Polo & those with transfers can remain on board. Transfers are 3/4 hrs before flight. We DIY'd. There is a direct vaporetto to airport 8E pp, numerous signs advertising it on dock & short 5 min walk - scenic route, tho takes 2 hours so nice way to end cruise if you've time. Lines at security at Marco Polo were long so they suggest you allow 3 hrs.

I did his transfer last year. It is large airport. Expect long lines. Also, steps to climb, so don't bring too much hand luggage.

As you've done this cruise recently, would really appreciate it if you could give some information on formal nights ie: how many and what nights?

We came off Ruby in Venice at the beginning of the month. There were disembarkation times right up to the afternoon.

We asked for 9.30 but could have had much later.

 

If you chose to do your own thing the people mover (monorail) is just outside the port gates. It is 1 euro to Piazalle Roma. The Airport Shuttle runs from there frequently for 6 euros per person. It is very easy.
