Appygirl Posted July 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2012 Years ago we stopped at a take out fish and chips place that was near where we were staying in Kihei and it was on the main highway. I don't think it had indoor seating. To the best of my recollection is was a building where you walked up to the counter and placed your order and took your food away. The fish and chips were local variety such as mahi mahi. Does anyone know of the place I'm thinking about and have a name for it or has it long since shut down? I'm sure I can find something comparable but this take out joint was very popular and recommended by locals.
cuzie Posted July 25, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2012 Haven't been in a few years, but could have been Alexanders? They had the best fish tacos.
oilsand Posted July 25, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 25, 2012 Eskimo candy although not on the main street in kehei, it is only a few blocks away. One of the best fish and chips places on the island. Take out or small seating inside and out. http://www.eskimocandy.com/
CruiserBruce Posted July 25, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 25, 2012 Think I saw it was still there, but not focused on fish and chips. This was as of last April.

Always eat there at least twice when in Maui.
Appygirl Posted July 25, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted July 25, 2012 Thanks! I looked at both those websites. Its my guess according to the photos that it is probably Alexanders. And if its not then I guess the place I'm thinking of has closed down. We'll definitely head out there for a meal and to take a look at Kihei again. Every time I go more hotels or condos have taken over the beaches.
DJ Cruisers Posted August 2, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 2, 2012 While in Kihei in April, I think we noticed Alexander's is no longer there, another place is but I don't think it was a fish takeout anymore. We use to eat there years ago but thought it wasn't as good as it had been and stopped going some time ago.
BURNSMN Posted August 2, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 2, 2012 Just looked on Maui Restaurant Blog and it does say Alexander's is now closed.
Appygirl Posted August 3, 2012 Author #9 Share Posted August 3, 2012 Thanks for the updates. Oh well. I was hoping to try it again if I could find it but I'm sure we'll find something!
