London in August

We are a family of 4, needing air from NYC to Heathrow for a weeks vacation any 7 days in August. I have tried unsuccessfully to find reasonable flights, anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help.

What do you mean by "reasonable"? I can see lots of flights in the $700-750 range, which is pretty much what I'd expect to pay to do NYC-London at that time of the year.

Try Sidestep.com. I just did and got a very good fare to Merida, Mx. You might also try Virgin Air's website. BA had some very good fares last year.

try 1800flyeurope.com. We always use them them for flights to London they always seem to have cheaper flights from NY. Just put in Augst 17-25 and they came back with non-stop for $557. Also in March we used priceline buy it now and got a great rate.

Unfortunately the summer months are the most expensive for any type of transatlantic airfare. So anything around $500 should be considered a great fair while anything up to $800 a "good" fair. Also do keep in mind that if you see any advertised specials that those prices are before taxes and that taxes on a transatlantic flight typically run about $150 per ticket.
