Allure of the Seas!! Pictures and Answers!!

Recommended Posts

Hello Cruise Critic!!

After a long wait, last week my fiancée (23y/o) and I (25y/o) finally sailed on the Allure of the Seas!!! We had a WONDERFUL time!!! It was a little crowded at times (specially it being JULY) but that didn't stop us from enjoying the cruise!! All the positives really outweigh that negative!!

Here are all my pictures (with a lot of food porn for all the foodies out there)!!! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10100802949873901.2662290.9032463&type=1&l=8b9237757d

Feel free to ask any questions!! ...and thanks to all that answered mine before!!

My husband and I will be on Allure for Thanksgiving. We are pretty close to your ages (27 and 26 respectively), so I have a couple of questions about how you felt about the cruise:

  1. Were the kids overwhelming? We know there will be kids since it's RCL, but did they seem to be contained in their areas (including teenagers)?

  2. How was the night life? We're not really club kind of people, more a few nice cocktails in a lounge type people. Are there any places you found that had this kind of atmosphere in the evening?

  3. Did you do the Prohibition party? If so, how was it?

Thanks for any answers you can provide!

There were a lot of kids.. specially since it's July... and they're out of school!! It didn't bother us though! They are mostly contained as you say! The most crowded areas were the pools... but you can avoid that by going to the solarium!! The Solarium has a nice quite bar as well!! Actually we're not club kind of people either, we like to get a good night sleep and enjoy the early day activities in the ports!! We spent a lot of time in the Schooner Bar, because my bf LOVES trivia... and that's where those take place.. but I would say I enjoyed the Solarium bar the most!!

About the Prohibition Party... we didn't do it.. but a lot of people in our roll call did and they said they enjoyed it a lot!! Maybe next time... we'll give it a try :)

Thanks!!

#1 Canon PowerShot SX260 HS... I'm in love with it!! I read a lot of reviews and comparisons with the similar Nikon and Panasonic... and this one turned out to be the best in its category!!

#2 For the parade... actually we barely made it! It was right after the meet and mingle... where we lost track of time... and we got to the parade actually like 2-3mins before it started! We were standing in front of Boleros if I remember correctly!!

#3 The dolphin swim was amazing!!! I loved it!! The food is from the same park... but not from the restaurant close to the dolphins!! If you stand in front of the dolphin area looking to the beach.. and look to your left, you see a beach and a restaurant!! They actually bring your food to the beach if you want! I think its name is Laguna Restaurant!! You have to walk by the restaurant to get to the beach chairs!! We ordered the sample platter and the nachos, as recommended by other cruise critic members in the Cozumel board!! They were really good!!!

Regarding the pictures... those I took with my own water proof camera (not the canon I mentioned before, this one is the Fujifilm FinePix XP30)... my bf took pics of me while I was with the dolphins and I took pics of him!! They didn't say anything about it... the other family that was with us did it as well and didn't have any problem either!! Nonetheless, we bought the pictures they sell as well!!! I found those to be REALLY expensive... but you basically have no choice because if you want to buy just ONE picture.. it's $30!!!!!!!!!! and the CD (for 2 people) was ~$109!! (it is more expensive the more people are on the pictures)!!! There were 57 pictures of us two!! So it's "kind of" worth it.. compared to just buying one picture for $30!!

These are 2 of the pictures they took:

I LOVE the pictures, sailing on September 2, 2012! I have a question about chops grille, how did the tips work. Did you just tip them or does a tip automatically get added on(percentage)

Thanks

The tip is included in the cover charge but you can tip more if you like.. and people usually do!! I tipped more in Chef's Table and 150 Central Park!! I didn't tip more on Chops Grille.. because our server was awful!!! We LOVED the food but he was just bad!! We didn't like one of the appetizers, he didn't offer to change it or anything... We could never find him if we had some question... the manager even came to take the empty plates of our table because he was nowhere to be found!! So we just didn't tip him more!!

I didn't read you asked for Ocean Aria as well!! For that one we arrived like an hour early and got really good seats in the upper (where you don't get wet) middle section! We had planned to be there like half an hour early but since a previous show in the week got rained out... we thought it was going to be full.. and we were right!! we arrived one hour early and there were people already in line!!

*We had reservations!! If you don't, there is little chance that you will have good seats for this show!!

Hi, we will be on Allure in a few weeks!! I booked Chef's Table as a surprise for my husband and I one night. Since we don't eat red meat - beef, pork, ham - is there any subsitutations allowed? We do eat turkey, chicken and fish. Thanks for your reply.

I can't tell how would it work since nobody in our table needed any substitutions, but on the day of your meal you will receive a call asking you if you have any special requirement... food allergies, etc! If you're not in your room at the moment of the call, they will leave a voicemail and you can call back!!

Love your pics and point of view. It's refreshing to hear from someone the same age as me! :)

Thank you :)!!! I was a little worried of going into activities and be the youngest couple in the room... but I didn't let it get to me... We talked to everyone younger and older!! We had a great time! Even in the chef's table.. there were people from every age group!!

A question about figure skating: do you know the names of the skaters? Printed in the daily, or a program, or an announcement? If I want to know their names, will I be able to find out without being noisy?

Thank you for your quick response miridj, I will wait for the call. I would assume the menu is the same for each meal / sailing. Hopefully they will be able to make small changes for us. :o

I really have NO idea!! I don't think their names appear in the compass but maybe you could just ask in guest services! I don't think there would be any problem with that!

You posted pics of Quest, that is 7 years bad luck!

I didn't know there was a myth!! Still I don't think I can have worse luck than I usually have hehehehe!! I think I'll be safe as long I don't post any videos!!

great pics. we're sailing on oct.14. do you by any chance remember which days the shows were on or show times. we're just trying to plan ahead a little . thanks

The shows repeat throughout the week... just be sure to make your reservations as soon as they open! You can check older compasses to see the show times and they should be similar! I didn't save mine so I can't really tell....but I used this website before to check the cruise compasses: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10100801121497981&l=d450f4c873

nice picks my wife and i will be on allure oct28,its eastern carb what nights would you sugest eating at specialty rest as we are planing to do a dining package. or should i ask witch nights wre best to avoid the MDR .thanks

Actually if I were going on Allure again.. I would avoid the MDR... I would not pay any tips there and would use that money to go to more specialty restaurants!! If that is not an option for you.. I think the best days to be in the MDR would be the day when they serve the Scallop w/ Risotto, the Lamb Shank and the Tiger shrimp, I think that's the Venetian night... and the night where they serve the Creamed Wild Mushrooms in Puff Pastry and the Lobster (Fisherman's Plate)! There was a night where even the waiter said that the menu wasn't good and recommended to order from the alternate menu!! Can you imagine?! O.o... That day we had the Black Angus Top Sirloin, which was nice...

*The night we ordered from the alternate menu had an eastern european theme if I remember correctly...
