Repositioning of The Jewel of The Seas Oct 2011

Recommended Posts

Has any past guest really had a problem with the cigarette smoke on this ship? We are thinking of going on this cruise, but I am leery due to I have allergy induced asthma.

Smoke is a problem in the casino, it is avoidable by going up or down a deck but a bit of an issue if you want to traverse that deck as there is not a bypass corridor.

Keep away from starboard side of open deck and same side on open pool.

We had a great time a couple of weeks ago and would say this is our favorite class on RCI. Not too many people and getting on and off is not a problem. It never seemed crowded and we managed to get seats everywhere.

Not sure if anyone understands your question. 2011?

There will always be smokers on a cruise, RC policy is no smoking in cabins but it is allowed on balconies and certain areas of inside of the ship.

If it is regarding the title "2011" possibly a wrong key pressed, a bit late when you press the send button. But then again it is better to come to the point in the title to lead people in. I like to be a bit ambiguous to trick them into reading.:D

I think what the OP meant was to gather information from guests on the repositioning cruise last year (2011)...I was on that cruise. I, too am very sensitive to cigarette smoke. I no longer book a balcony cabin because of that. Seems the smokers want to have the balcony as smoking is allowed, and my misfortune was to always have one next to me making my balcony mostly unusable. I've decided in the future to go with oceanview staterooms because of this, thus saving me money too. Yes, I will be on this years repo sailing and in an oceanview stateroom.

I prefer not to encounter smoke while on a cruise but have only had an occasional problem and I have found that smoking areas on the Jewel have been severely restricted in recent years. No longer do we have to run a smokers gauntlet when passing through the Schooner Bar to get to the Safari Lounge, formal nights mean that smoking is not permitted in the casino, and smoking is restricted to one side of the ship on the outside decks. If you have a heavy smoker in the cabin next to yours or right below yours, you can have some problems, but in our experience that has not been a frequent occurrence.

At some point, RCI may follow Celebrity's lead and ban smoking on the balcony, but that is not yet the case.

With a little advance planning you should be able to enjoy most of the Jewel without encountering smoke.

I was on that cruise. We had an aft cabin and had no problem with smoke. Passengers observed the no smoking side of the decks and we didn't frequent the bars where people can smoke. However, apart from formal night, I couldn't bear going into the casino as it was so smoky and even on formal night (when smoking isn't allowed) the place reeked of stale tobacco.
