calsuzie Posted May 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I was recently given a upgrade by Celebrity to a Concerge Class Cabin on Constellation. I've been reading about all the little extras, which sound very nice. My question: What is this "expanded room service menu"? Can anyone describe this expansion for me? Any other comments, experiences or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks. rwb Posted May 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2004 The menu has a fairly extensive list of items that are not on the "regular" menus. Far too many to describe. Generally, you can think o fit as having more choices within each category of food item. For example, omlettes made from eggs, egg whites, or eggbeaters, with a long list of custom fillings. (My favorite is smoked salmon.) With a variety of freshly squeezed juices. Or with a variety of hot drinks, including cappucino and espresso. In my recent experience, the service itself is somewhat more elaborate as well, involving the setting out of tablecloths and table settings (which is not usually provided with "normal" room service). stomsf Posted May 4, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I haven't been in a CC cabin yet, but it sounds like the breakfast menu has been expanded to more of the Suite style menu, with more hot options available plus full table settings. Of course, the trick is to remember that even when in a non-CC/suite room, you can always write in what you want and you'll usually get it. excitedofharpenden Posted May 4, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2004 sandthrush As far as I am aware, a separate order of cappucino or espresso is only free when in a suite, with the butler service, but someone who has stayed in Concierge may correct me. cfprunner Posted May 4, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I don't remember every seeing cappucino on the 'free' menu. You can order a variety of smoothies, that cost $3.95 elsewhere on the ship. There are 4 or 5 fresh juices. Danish ham, Black Forest Ham, Smoked Salmon, etc. The white tablecloth service on the deck is wonderful. cruisinjudy Posted May 4, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Well, we never got the tablecloth on Infinity. The breakfast was just delivered on a tray. I loved the fresh orange juice, which we usually got when we ordered it. A few times it was not fresh squeezed.
PatC Posted May 5, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 5, 2004 DH & I hardly used the balcony on Millie but on Summit in March it was like being on a private boat. Breakfast was delivered right on time,I think when the phone rang they were at the door! We received a fresh, white linen tablecloth every day and flowers (just like the dining room) with it. The food was hot and very different from the "usual" breakfast we've had before in the cabin. We lived on that balcony this cruise because it was so peaceful and quiet. DH even read 2 books, a miracle! The menu was similar to the regular room menu but it was double what you could order before. Even liquor (charged for that) and caviar (charge for that also). Didn't need that, there was enough for us with the regular. Didn't even try the pillow menu because the pillows were actually really nice this time. The bed was sooooooo comfortable we got great sleep. Oh, and the extra dryer under the sink worked great, good power, not like the one on the wall. Any more questions, fire away!!! LMKohler Posted May 5, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 5, 2004 How did you get an upgrade? I thought that was practically impossible with Celebrity. Lucy
calsuzie Posted May 5, 2004 Author #11 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Lucy, I haven't a clue how or why I got an upgrade. In fact, I was never notified that I had been upgraded. When my e-docs came, I noticed that the cabin number was different from the one I had booked and that it said CC. So, I called Celebrity and asked if there had been some mistake, and they told me "No, you've been given a complimentary upgrade". They couldn't tell me why. So, while I'm thrilled, I have no idea how I got so lucky. I have to assume that it was a random selection though, just the luck of the draw. pooh1bear43113 Posted May 5, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 5, 2004 The upgrades to the CC category must be the HOOK that "X" uses to get us suckered in with. We, too, were upgraded from a 1C to a CC category when Infinity went with CC....now we are - - - HOOKED. Can't put my finger on it exactly, except to say, DH loves priority boarding (it works! - unless we've been extremely lucky the last 3 - soon to be 4 cruises on Infinity and Summit booked in CC). The pillow menu is wonderful. I hate polyester filled pillows and the menu allows one to choose from several options: including body pillow and down filled. And the bed is sooo comfy. The 5:00 snacks are okay - DH seems to enjoy them....we both enjoy the bottle of welcome Champpipple waiting on ice in the room. The higher wattage hair dryer under the sink in the BR is great! While we've never experienced the linens and flowers on the veranda table, the breakfast menu is wonderful: the smoothies and the fritta (sp?) was out of this world! And the bran muffins were even good - and it was delivered almost on time every morning.....however, on our last cruise on Infinity going thru the Canal last December, I had to laugh outloud.....the breakfast was 1 hour late - and when she finally brought it, we set it out on the veranda table - sat down to eat, started to pour the coffee - and nothing came out! She brought us an empty coffee pot! No problem for us as deck 9 is one deck away from the buffet on deck 10 - so we just hoofed it up the stairs to fill our coffee pot! CC category is one upgrade I wish we had never gotten! Now CC is a must when booking.
