maximus217 Posted August 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2012 We are going to Eastern Mediterranean cruise next year, and the ship will depart at 5:00 p.m. from Rome. What is the latest time you should be at the port? Thank you. :)
Rare cruisestitch Posted August 1, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2012 They will tell you on board, and post it at the gangway, but generally about an hour before sailing. Sometimes it may be a little less, but factor in traffic and never cut it too close. To see what happens if you do, head over to YouTube and search for "missed cruise ship" for some amusing (!) videos.

If you are leaving from Rome at the start of your cruise, you normally need to be checked in an hour and a half prior to sailing:cool: Train from Rome arrives in general vicinity of port. Rare cruisestitch Posted August 1, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Oh, yes, for a cruise that embarks at Civitavecchia, be checked in one and a half hours ahead, for a port call the times would be different.
maximus217 Posted August 2, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted August 2, 2012 Thank you very much for all your responses. We will be in Rome the night before, and we are planning to take the Vatican Early Entrance on the day of our cruise. The tour starts at 7:30 a.m. and even with 5-hour tour we still have enough time to leave Rome to go to Civitavecchia. :)
