dulcimergirl Posted August 2, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2012 Yes....in warm climes, there is no "after Labor Day" thing! Thank you, I keep getting "the" lecture about white pants from my Maine born BFF. I'm cruising in Sept and intend to wear white. I wear what I wish when I wish.. something that drives my BFF crazy. cruz4evr Posted August 2, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2012 I agree.....I never hesitate to wear white pants after Labor Day when in Bermuda or the other islands. Love to dress up in bright colors too, much better than wearing black! :)

xenagurl Posted August 2, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 2, 2012 Of course you can! Wear what you like and that looks good on you and fits well. That whole Labor Day thing is absurd.
Happy ks Posted August 3, 2012 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2012 Not only is it outdated and absurd, why do people think that these rules apply out of the country (USA)? Does Canada and the UK have the "no white after Labor Day/before Memorial Day" rule? I know Canada has a Labor Day, not sure of Memorial Day but it's not the same as ours. How about other countries? Ehpride Posted August 3, 2012 #10 Share Posted August 3, 2012 I think that's a silly "rule". Dress for the weather, not the date.
cocobakerchica Posted August 3, 2012 #11 Share Posted August 3, 2012 wondering if white pants would be appropriate in late September in bermuda Not only are white pants appropriate in Bermuda in late September, they are mandatory!<lol> It's a subtropical climate, so it's kinda vital to wear light colors to stay cool. Arusha Posted August 3, 2012 #12 Share Posted August 3, 2012 According to http://bermuda-guide.info/weather/september/ : "Temperatures in Bermuda during September generally vary between an average high during the day of 84.0 degrees and an average low at night of 76.0 degrees" Sounds like white pants weather to me! NoobCruise Posted August 3, 2012 #13 Share Posted August 3, 2012 I don't think ANYONE in California follows this rule. I thought it was an outdated myth, but maybe it's a regional thing. White pants anytime of the year here, white shoes too. But then many wear shorts in December and January too. My husband wears shorts year round. wildweston Posted August 3, 2012 #14 Share Posted August 3, 2012 We have labour day in Australia, but I have not heard about the white pants thing. :)
kandagal1939 Posted August 3, 2012 #15 Share Posted August 3, 2012 I'm with you Cheryl. White pants all year round. Just check out the lawn bowlers LOL
dulcimergirl Posted August 3, 2012 #16 Share Posted August 3, 2012 Sounds like a regional thing to me. My BFF is from Maine and would as soon as die rather than wear white pants or shoes after labor day. Even in Florida or a tropical place, and she used to live in Florida.. lol Amazing to me how these things stick with a person. I adore whites and will be fully white-ed out in the Caribbean! NoobCruise Posted August 4, 2012 #18 Share Posted August 4, 2012 and who made that rule to begin with and why?? I supposed if it's raining you don't want to get splashed with mud, but a rule for the world??? From a Californian, where we hang out at the beach house for Christmas, it's just silly.
