P&O Grand Event

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what coverage if any the P&O 175th Grand Event got in Australia. My family saw nothing of it on the free to air news out here. I am recently home from a cruise on Aurora that I did with my friend. It was a great trip and worth the flight across the world to enjoy.

I got two albums online that have the photos I took on it.

Don't know about the 175th grand event, but liked your photos and love to see a young couple enjoying themselves. We had three kids at your age, but still managed to do a world trip, even though it was really a long working holiday.

I was hoping it would have made news for family and friends back here. It is not every day that you get 7 cruise ships leaving Southampton and having a Royal salute and a RN ship HMS Dragon standing guard as they all leave. It was a very exciting day to be there and the cruise was really well organised.

I found this youtube link about it

is there any way I can get the video showing in the forum page instead of just a link?

Despite the weather we really enjoyed it. I know allot of passengers complained about embarkation chaos but for some reason it didnt bother me and I didnt give it a second thought. The whole cruise went really well. Travelling with someone you tend to notice the faults less than when you are alone.

My favourite photo of the sailaway was this one:

Then this is as close as I could zoom in for the Royal review of the fleet:

  • 1 month later...

Almost two months on from this cruise I am still sorting out photos and thought I would share some of my favourites. I have been using a Canon EOS 60D with EF17-40mm f/4L and EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L lens for these and have been using the EX 580II flash for portraits even in daylight and have been impressed with the result.
