39august Posted May 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2005 Is the ferry now running from the Hyatt to Rum Point? Is the Hyatt open?
cruzinchar Posted May 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2005 No and No. The Hyatt won't be open until next Feb. 2006 due to extensive damage from the hurricane. Don't know when the ferry will be back running...
lovemylife Posted May 15, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 15, 2005 We were there at the end of March, the beach side of the hotel is open, and they are offering day passes to cruisers. We had a very peaceful, uncrowded day there. We didn't see a ferry at all.
cruzinchar Posted May 15, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 15, 2005 Sorry if my answer was confusing. I thought the person was asking about the main hotel since that is where the ferry leaves from. Yes, the beach side hotel is open, but the main hotel across the street isn't and won't be for quite some time. That might affect when they start running the ferry, since it leaves from there. jenniferhouston3 Posted May 15, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 15, 2005 If you do the day pass thing, how do you get back to the ship. I have heard that cabs are unreliable and you must rely on the GC bus system which makes a loop around town before heading back to the ship? Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated
lovemylife Posted May 17, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2005 We caught a taxi right out in front of the Hyatt. I don't know why that poster had to catch a bus?? There are taxis lined up next door at the Colony, which is packed to the gills with cruisers. If you don't see a taxi at the Hyatt, the Colony is right next door. lovemylife Posted May 18, 2005 #8 Share Posted May 18, 2005 Each beach chair has it's own individual sunshade, very nice chairs, very Hyatt-ish. :)

We had a very peaceful, uncrowded day there. We didn't see a ferry at all. Can you compare the Hyatt beach with Rum Point? I first heard Rum Point wasn't very crowded, but now I'm seeing posts where it is. We are going in Sept. and were planning on Rum Point, but would we be just as good off to go to the Hyatt beach? What is included in the day pass for cruisers? Thanks in advance.
cruisecrazymama Posted May 2, 2006 #10 Share Posted May 2, 2006 We will be there in Nov. and would like to visit Rum Point, but don't want to drive. Would LOVE it if the ferry would be running. If not, would the Hyatt beach be as good? fopjustice, We are also from Oklahoma. What part of the state are you from?
