RuthC Posted August 15, 2012 #26 Share Posted August 15, 2012 ?- my frist cruise was on the rotterdam in 1988- would this be the same ship Yes. The ss Rotterdam (Rotterdam V) was in service from 1959 through 9/30/97. She then transferred to Premier Cruise Line, as the Rembrant, until the line went out of business. Duddy Posted April 4, 2013 Author #28 Share Posted April 4, 2013 If anyone has an interest, I just purchased some first class (from 1966) and tourist class (from 1959) deck plans from ebay. Let me know. I can try to scan them. I was hoping to get a brochure from the 1970s or 80s and see if there are differences. ~Bob~
Rare dogo88 Posted April 4, 2013 #29 Share Posted April 4, 2013 Great to see her again. My husband and I took our first cruise on her and got hooked on HAL and cruising. I have not yet sailed on her namesake but have enjoyed every class ship that HAL has since then (except the Pristendam which we will correct in 2014) I still enjoy my pictures of us on the "old" Rotterdam in the "smoking room" which of course is now completely obsolete. I remember how stunned I was that the bartender remembered what I liked and had it waiting for me each day. Nice memories. Took our honeymoon on the V. Loved it. Ships of today don't compare. Rare Smokeyham Posted November 8, 2013 #30 Share Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) Wow! Lots of great posts here! Great pics Roy. Nice :) If anyone finds a pic with both ships in it, please let me know. I seemed to have misplaced all the old brochures. Does anyone have Rotterdam V deck plans? I've searched all over Google with no leads  Thanks ~ Bob ~ Here are the links to two pages of the Rotterdam's Deck Plans. http://www.stoomschiprotterdam.nl/pics_Plattegronden/Dekplan1b.jpg http://www.stoomschiprotterdam.nl/pics_Plattegronden/Dekplan2b.jpg These came from this website: http://www.ssrotterdam.net/ Edited November 8, 2013 by Smokeyham
